To be honest with you, the main focuse of final fantasy games is story. Take your time and enjoy the storyline and the fights to this game, there will be a lot of people that wont mind helping you out with content. It has also been clearly pointed out by many and the addition of an item coming allowed to bypass the story it is not the end all of the game. So this suggestion comes off "hey like the story, and just do it". It really isn't nearly as interesting as this forum gives it credit.
