    Physical CE purchase gone wrong

I don't know where else to bring this up and I was told to try and make a post here for a possible resolution.

In late January when the Stormblood Collector's Edition was released for pre-order, I immediately placed my order. At the time, there was only a Playstation and PC version avaliable of the physical Collector's Edition, and I saw no disclaimer or warning that buying the PC version would not be compitable with a Steam based account.

I was told otherwise last night via the support system, after having tried for weeks to make my Early Access code work, in which I was finally told by a friend to try asking Square Enix support desk for help. There, I was first given an automated reply, one of the FAQs being something related to my problem, saying a PC version of the game would NOT be compitable with a Steam service account.

In surprise and confusion, I sent another more detailed question in, and it ticks in a bit before I go to bed saying I would have to return the product to sender so I could get a refund, and then purchase the proper Steam version of the product.

This is something I would be unable to do as my account has already been debited, and sending back such a large package would be very costly on me in shipping, and I don't have the money to pay for another version of the game now until later in June regardless of being willing to do so or not just to get to play the Early Access...

If anything, I am just making one last attempt here. Is there really no other way I could have this problem resolved, or should I just accept my fate and miss out on the early access and stuff that I looked forward to?

Sad to say but ya accept ur fate. You could try and talk to SE but they will tell you what you have alrdy been told. They dont allow versions to be crossed. So unless you return what you bought for refund and get the steam version your gonna miss EA.

is there is any ways you could just install the game on your pc an use your Enix Account?,
like no using steam to open the game. im not an expert on steam since I like the physical copy of the games, but if you got the collector edition, such a expensive package will not come with the 2 versions 2.0-3.0?
your enix account must not be fuse with the steam account, now i could be wrong, just trying to get a solution around the problem.

Unfortunately that won't work. The installations for both Steam and non-Steam are exactly the same and all that's different is the code you get. When the game is first activated it is flagged internally as either Steam or non-Steam. From that point onwards all future codes must be the Steam version (or not). Codes from the other type simply won't work.

So although yes it's possible to install the expansion from the physical disc, it won't do any good as the account won't take the code so they won't be able to actually use it.

Notice: This product is not compatible with the Steam version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. If you’ve purchased FFXIV: A Realm Reborn on Steam, then you must also purchase FFXIV: Stormblood on Steam to upgrade your existing account

I doubt it was missing when it was up. Unless you can pull up the webpage using one of those internet archive sites. A business isn't going to wait on you hand and foot nor does it care about you not having enough money for X, Y and Z. Just send it back or take the hit.

well, I kinda figured I would get these kinds of replies unfortunatly, though it was a little unexpected to get told off for wanting confirmation that I would have to find another way out of this mess.

I only have my word that there was no Steam version avaliable at the time I ordered in late January, right after I got the email that SB was avaliable for pre-order, and a friend's word that "steam versions came later".

However, it does not matter anymore, as a resolution to my problem has been found outside of this forum, therefore this thread is no longer necessary and can be closed.

    Hey,

You shouldn't need to pay to return it to sender. I work for a different games company and in cases where we can't cancel pre-orders and people need to return them to us for a refund, we tell them to refuse the delivery. The postman will update the tracker to show the delivery was refused and it will make its way back to the senders address. As soon as it has been refused, you should be able to contact them again with your tracking number, let them know its been refused and they should be able to see this too and issue the refund straight away.
