Doing Dusk Vigil on my alt this morning and I came across a first. Tank (DRK) literally went 100%-0% tanking 4 mobs (3 ice sprites/mylodon... don't recall these being particularly painful in the past) in the time it took to hardcast a Shadow Flare. I will take full responsibility for the death (outside not knowing wtf was going on with the tank), but it was like a car crash... all slo-mo and I could see his health going down and thought "Should I cancel cast? Nah, surely the damage has to stop at some point, right?" Apparently not so. :P

Queued into Leveling as DRK, trying to max all my tanks before Stormblood drops. Get Aurum Vale (ughhhhhh) with a WHM, a MNK, and a BRD I believe was the comp. Things are going well. Accidental ass pull in the first room but that's bound to happen in there. First boss goes okay and on the way to the second I notice something odd about the WHM's play and I go ahead and point it out.

In spite of this it was one of the smoothest runs of Aurum Vale I've ever been in. Healer got my comm for managing to pull that off as gimped as he was and he got pointed in the right direction.

This exchange is beautiful. This is how it should be done, rather than the cases where people would instantly start calling the WHM trash or kick them without a word and they would be clueless. +1

I also learned to always be ready with potions.

Those max pots with 45s CD are hella useful.

I basically just heal. I'm a SCH main and as such take pleasure in out-DPSing my DPS. Queued for roulette and got Sohm Al Hard. WAR, DRG and MNK so I'm prepared to throw out a lot of healing because melee but also that means I'm the strongest AOE we have. Tank does the usual double pulls before the first boss, I spread an Adlo (a crit! Best feeling!) and throw up my dots to bane. WAR types "wtf???" but I don't see it and he winds up pulling the next group.

I do the same thing with no crit but even though his health drops a bit I keep him above the 5k mark. I'm waiting for the first boss to be pulled when he elaborates and tells me I need to heal well before I can DPS or just roll SMN. Before I can respond he pulls (with no adlo) and I decide I am going to do my damdest to DPS the heck out of this boss. I do and he goes Deliverance, I don't know if he was trying to stay ahead of me or what but I rip the boss off of him and we wipe.

The usual game of blame the healer happens and I encourage them all to just move on. Befoe he pulls this time he says "show her, make sure she has to heal" and these people start eating AoE left and right. I don't know if they were friends or what but I ate the penalty and left because I'd rather look at the market board than sit through another 2 bosses of that behavior.

You know, I've noticed there are more and more tanks that get really nervous when their health goes below half and I see them pop a flurry of CDs in full-on panic mode. When I go on WHM, I frequently use Benediction when it suites me and it absolutely freaks the tanks out. This is quite funny because why weren't they using CDs in the first place and just assume their job is to hold aggro.

The whole "show her" thing triggers me. In your situation, I would have initiated a vote-kick on the tank and if it fails then hopefully they vote kick me as revenge.

Well, having been in more than a few DFs where my healer just let my HP bar hit zero because - was chatting in FC and whoops, was getting drink afk and whoops, forgot was in CS and which button was heals and whoops, etc etc - there's a reason sometimes tanks panic and hit CDs. Not blaming the meta, but not every healer is created equal.

I'm not sure you're understanding me here. Simply looking at the party window shows you if someone is synced or not, if someone is not synced, and you look at their classes and that's the only thing they've leveled, and you look at their gear and they're undergeared for the dungeon, the question is WHY? Are they running just this dungeon? did they level grind using PotD and thus don't have gear?

Nope, none of this is what you look for going by party list alone, and I even explained what you look for.

There is a list that appears that shows you how high your enmity is by the color and shapes. This list also tells you how much HP each monster has. So when you have one much lower hp then the rest you select it. you can see how high each person's enmity is on it. This will be a big clue if someone is single target rotation or not, esp when you select the others and see very low enmity on the same person that has high on one. You also see TP, buffs, cast bars seeing what a BRD, MCH, BLM, WHM, AST, SCH is very easy to see with cast bars and buffs. (Is the DRG/BLM/MCH/BRD/MNK keeping the buff on they should be having on that is 24/7?) Is the tank pulling big groups in tank stance? Is the tank starting off bosses in tank stance? Is the war doing an unchain pull? Like the vid I shown you on the boss, the reason the WHM died is because the war did not do a proper opener ( hardly any actions) that is why she died. You can tell a lot by the pt list and monster list.

You ever get those runs where someone isn't necessarily terrible, but they just rub you the wrong way?

Got Cutter's Cry in roulette. I've never healed it before, but I've been dragged through Sohm Al, Dzemael Dark, etc... Plus I used to run it for fun all the time as my main class. So I wasn't really concerned, but I thought I'd let the party know I'm a bit of a newb when healing that particular run. We had 2 SMNs (one from my FC. She's still learning the class, but it's my main and I've been teaching her the appropriate pet management, when to use Bane or Fester/etc).

The annoyance starts with this other summoner. He's making a lot of amateur mistakes. I see a lot of Fester usage on mobs, and then hard casting DoTs on individual enemies. :P He's standing in sand pits like some ninky, so I'm stuck spamming Cure/Cure II instead of putting my DoTs up. Again, whatever, I'm a little annoyed, but really, I look at it as being able to practice my prioritizing abilities as healer.

Random SMN suddenly asks my FC mate: Is there a particular reason you're not using Bane? (edit: just as a side note: she was in fact using Bane. I believe he was confusing Bane and Fester for most of the run).

Now keep in mind, I'm already annoyed with him. He's got the returner icon, and it's very obvious he doesn't know what he's doing, but you let it slide for people who're out of practice, right?? But this, and various nitpicky comments afterward sharpened my emotions from "Vague Annoyance" to "I'm letting you die the next time you can't dodge something." (which was very often).

We get to the Chimera. Again, SMN not the greatest at dodging. He has a habit of pulling the paralyzing orbs into the whole party. So eventually I stopped cleansing it off him. Sweetheart, they are easily dodged, everyone is taking AOE, I'm not gonna break a sweat over someone that will probably be a better asset dead. He gets bonked by the Blue eyes ice AOE. "Why didn't you take paralyze off me??"

I thought it would be rude to say "Because you're an idiot and dropped the orb on the whole party - Live with the consequences!! ....Plus I don't like you." I was even nice enough to res him. Just for him to forget to summon his pet at all, and stand in the bads while setting off the LB several minutes later, so he died again anyway.

Moral of the story: I don't care about bad players. I don't care about people that're out of practice or maybe don't know their rotations the best, just so long as they can hash out the most basic functionality. What really grinds my gears is when people lecture others about their Jobs, when they themselves are sub-par at best.

Everyone agrees they have done it before and know what to do. Then proceeds to get hit by every AoE resulting in a wipe.
