Alisae has red and Alphinaud has blue in both old and new gear. Alisae is also a Red Mage. I think their fate has been revealed long ago in this poem:



Alisae will travel east with us and Alphinaud will be lost (dead or kidnapped?) in the western war. No idea what will happen to other characters though.

I feel like looking at their colored outfits might be reading into something that isn't there, though I wouldn't mind if Alphinaud disappeared and Alisaie were more prominent in the story however it happens.

FYI, the expansion titles (subtitles?) in Japanese also reference these colors. Heavensward is 蒼天のイシュガルド (azure skies of Ishgard) and 紅蓮のリベレーター (the crimson [lotus] liberator).
