It's not fun or funny when you've constantly got thirsty neckbeards adding you, lurking on your Discord, and wasting your time when you specifically stated you're looking for other girls. It's not only creepy, it's messed up.

To be fair you didn't specifically state you were exclusively looking for other girls you only said a preference so you can see why people might try :P

As a guy who plays the game for fun I have seen many friends in the past get stalked by desperate loners that made the game uncomfortable. Even when it's a guy playing a female character!! Most people give creepy vibes due to their lack of socialization, and desperation in the real world.
Sometimes (But not advised) calling them out, or reporting may help.

What kind of gamer are you: Casual - Midcore. Also casual/light RPer.

Do you care if the player in real life is not the same gender as their character? Not really, but it's a bonus if you are.

Preferred Race: Any, providing character is female
Main class: I switch often, mostly to gathering classes (FSH <3) but for combat I currently main PLD.
Dislikes: Giving up after one wipe, 'Hardcore and 'Gotta go fast' attitude all the time. Other than that I'm mostly pretty chill, just don't be an asshat/jerk.
Goals for the game: Having fun while levelling jobs, story content, getting AF gear/glamour gear, sightseeing and clearing content at a leisurely pace where possible. Don't really care for trying to get BiS stuff. I will end game raid but nothing serious or scheduled play. Also taking pretty screenshots!
Goals for the marriage union: Apart from the loot I'm looking for a buddy to play with since I dislike soloing content all the time. Or if we're not doing content, it'd be nice to just generally hang out shooting the breeze/gathering/crafting on the side. No need to be stuck to each other all the time of course, I too enjoy my alone time here and there as well. Also RPing is a plus as well.
Etc: Gotta be comfy with LGBT regardless if you're male or female. I won't jump straight into a union after snippets of conversation though, we'll see if we hit it off to become friends then we'll look at getting the marriage bonuses. I do have Discord, however I'm not giving that out publically; if you want it, speak to me in game.

Not​ really. The part that is making guys think it is welcoming is cuz she plays a female character. Other girls who mentioned the same but have played/continue playing/or will play male characters are not visited by guys (of course there are exceptions)

My point is that she didn't make it a requirement that she wanted a female. She used the word prefer meaning not required but wanted. So how can you get upset when people come if they think they got a shot?

EDIT: One more thing I don't think you're wrong all I'm saying is don't put a sign on the window that says "We prefer cash" and get mad when people try to pay with credit. Preference doesn't indicate requirement.

I would think it's pretty obvious for people that the person likes other girls but guys tend to answer regardless of whether or not they say "girls preferred" or "girls only". Hoping that maybe they might be the exception.

One, I didn't make up the dictionary I'm only saying what is a fact. The word preference means leaving a door half way closed. This does not mean it is closed so don't be surprised when people try coming in. As for the second part besides the pint that there are like 4 girls in this 776 page thread girls don't need to respond to guys who want other guys they have a pool over hundreds guys have a pool of a few select few.

Dislikes: People with soft skin. I also dislike people that feel honesty = being jerks. I value being civilized!
Goals for the game: Being the best I can be at whatever I am doing. I don't aim for the top but I aim to give it my all, be it mining, armor crafting or fighting!
Goals for the marriage union: Simple fun. I don't want someone that's latched on to me all the time, but someone I can summon every other day for fun. Talking, fighting, exploring, all of it. Don't expect an RL relationship to blossom out of this one, I'm really not going there.

If the door is half open that doesn't mean you're actually allowed or wanted in the house. Someone who isnt desperate for money won't rob you. Someone who is desperate will : p.

Also the pool isn't a select few xD. Girls are here all the time. They are either scared off, not interested in them or quit this.

True, they shouldn't get mad, but it is a problem when those guys, I am sure the girls are checking those people application too, just said female in the whole application. The other person is assuming because that is how vague those guys left their application.

In a way it is true preference is not an obligation, yet if someone prefers something as a courtesy, people need to follow what that person preferences is.

May be a good way to avoid any miscommunication is for the guys to post with a message here instead of sending a friend request, another is for the guys to mention their gender, and for the girls to be more specific. I want just this or till farther notice.

Agreed. I don't mean to be a smarty pants I was just pointing out why some people might be confused.
