As the story goes on it becomes obivous eventually the Garlean Empire will become our allies to defeat the Ascions and keep there plan from reserrecting their God and bring about the destruction of the world.

The removal of a great power such as the Garlean Empire will leave a power vacuum in the world thus people of power will take advantage over and take action bring about far more Chaos to feed the ressurection of Zodiark.

However, now is not that time as the Garlean Empire currently is the Ascion's greatest asset to bring about the ressurection of their God Zodiark. Also, as we learn so far, just like many other nations, the Garlean Empire is still under control of corrupt people within their power. The Emperor may have ignored them because they have proved results but the internal conflicts for position of power is still there.

Those corrupt people are the Asicon's greatest assets and just like the devil they only need to whisper promises of power to them to easily make the ignore the dangers of following the Allagan Empire.

Still to judge them for what we see now is still a bit too soon in my opinion as we know very little about what Garlemald is like since no one from outside of Garlemald has ever brought description nor images to what the Garlean Empire has developed their Country into.

For all we know the Garlemald could look like FFXIV or FFXIII world considering their level of technology and how the civilization survived by completely depending on Technology since Garleans can not use magic due to their genetics.

Then guess we are left to help maybe a refugee camp of traitors who left the empire but still maybe favor the imperial ways of might. Not asking to change the main story. Just an option to express a way to be an Imp supporter somehow.

Think about it.. we have the helm.. we have the body.. but no pants lol. Even some more Imp Glam could be fun. Diff styles and so.

One can do good for Eorzea but still value personal power.

    I give you exhibit A: =p

It will never happen because the FF series has never been about 'playing as the bad guys', which SE has almost always depicted Empires as being, the 'Evil Empire' trope at work, way back since FFII (the only FF game that featured a more sympathetic empire was FFXI with the Empire of Aht Urhgan in the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion... and even they were responsible for some rather underhanded and heinous acts). Garlemald has never been mentioned either in universe or by the development team as anything other than antagonists.

They are not protagonists, they are not our allies, they only want to dominate and conquer and have the entire planet under their jackboot, and only know power for power's sake. Whatever moral high ground they once had went right out of the window the moment they started allying with the Ascians.

Although there are Garlean defectors to Eorzea, they are rather few and far between, Cid and the Garlond Ironworks being the obvious example, but there is also Drest the marooned Juggernaut pilot in Eastern La Noscea (who is a draftee from a subject nation and hates the Empire, and only wants to see his family), and Lucia who was sent to Ishgard to spy on the theocracy for the Empire only to defect when she fell in love with Aymeric.

Conditions in the Garlean army are harsh - failure is not tolerated and always results in a death sentence, literally (Drest actually had Garlean hit teams sent after him because he refused to return to Castrum Ocidens, and even Nero mentioned that only death awaits him back in Garlemald, hence his erstwhile assistance with the Alliance (I stop short deliberately of calling it a defection though, as I still don't trust him). Even Gaius would have been executed if he ever returned to Garlemald, as he had turned rogue after the Calamity due to being placed under Nael's command, and well we all know how that turned out.

And the big kicker as to why players will never be able to play as the Empire? One word, the 'Echo'. Garlemald originally regarded those with the Echo as a heretic no different from a beastman, and thus to be executed as soon as they were identified. Although they soon discovered the Echo's protection from Primal tempering, that just meant an Echo user would be imprisoned and dissected for study rather than being executed, but it was still certain death either way you look at it. So a Garlean awoken to the Echo would be in a very dangerous position, thus why players will never be able to be Garlean.

Either way, Imy point is, if you want to play as an antagonist like the Empire, this is the wrong game for that as that option will never be added due it going against the very core ideas of the FF series itself.

Sounds like many endgame savage raids and FC expectations. =p

But yea, then what would people think about Imperial Glam? Maybe even a PVP mode where you would be "The Empire". Nothing to do with storyline or tribes?

Imperial glamour is actually quite possible, maybe even likely. PvP is doubtful. In both FF11 and 14, PvP is a friendly competition.

Yea that would be cool. A few different glam styles. Least then could have a FC who wants to show off as Imp. Maybe even add a house banner item too.
