Yoshi P to Mr.Happy "Heal DPS is not mandatory and no expectation for Healer to DPS!"

I'm honestly a little confused that Yoshi P would try to dictate player mentality through word rather than game mechanics and potencies/numbers. That's why I'm wondering if this paraphrasing has been heavily misconstrued. If he wanted healers to only heal, he would create instances where absolute healing is necessary- but there's less than a handful of them. I wonder how in touch he is with this specific issue.

I don't think I've ever seen a game developer say "No stahp!" over actually adjusting or rerouting how the player base perceives the content should be tackled. He can say that he intends healers to only heal, but as far as I still see - DPS + Team Alive > No Dps + Team Alive. Tens of thousands of parses/number crunches/time remaining in dungeons have proven time and time again that DPS + Team Alive is not only better, it's doable. Like I said, it's odd seeing the disconnect from Yoshi P who fails to see necessary healer uptime and then tries to quell it with words over alterations to the game itself.

Metas (Gross word, I know but hang with me) are formed from what's in the game, not from Developers saying how you should be playing, even if the game they made directly contradicts it.

I'm demanding people to use their toolkit and not afk, while they expect me to do the same. So obviously I expect the very same of them too. C'mon is it really hard to actually know there is actual team effort in multi player games? Or you gonna just run off as a healer with med kits in battlefield 1, since it's a healer kit class might as well just run around heal right? Tools and skills are there for a reason and if you think they are just there to look shiny, you are very wrong then.

I'm down with healers not dpsing. Only if they boost healing requirements to the point a heal needs to go out every GCD. I wonder who would crumble under the pressure first, heal-only healers who should look at that and rejoice, or dps healers who only dps on the side because healing is boring as is and they want the challenge that such heavy healing would bring?

Expectations goes both ways, unless you have 1 part expect others do it and the person who do so, doesn't do anything, while should ther be effort? How many times have people said this, yet people make up things?

The only expectations I have from another healer is to help me keep the party alive and that's it. If the person is just healing, they are still doing something. Afking would literally be a SCH just sitting there and letting the AI do all the healing. I think your idea of "doesn't do anything" is a bit..flawed. Because if they truly were not doing anything, they wouldn't even be healing.

My point being, there's doing your job, and then there's being optimal. We shouldn't expect everyone to be optimal, but we should ask them to do their jobs. If they are optimal, commend them! Otherwise, people just let do their job?

queuing in a DF, 3 complete strangers, I don't really care how they play as long as they do their role

Tank hold aggro, use CD as needed as the basic, dishing out more DPS and stance dance, i consider a bonus

Healer keeping everyone alive, remove debuff, if they CS and help DPS while keeping everyone alive, a bonus

DPS using proper rotation, not just 1,1,1, i consider it as a bonus when they using utility for other party member

as for requiring more than the basic, we always have Party Finder and premade party so player can set their own rules

but DF?when i queue DF, a tank/healer/dps do more than it basic, of cause i welcome it, but as long as they are doing their job, i am fine with it

It is like dungeon have their minimum iL requirement, over gear are obviously welcome, but meeting the basic is fine for me too

I don't ask others to though, I have never heard another demand it either.

That's because the risk of starting a drama and losing more time that you'd actually gain is higher.
In short, it's not worth it. So, in game, people tolerate that kind of mediocrity because something worse can happen if they raise their voice. But it's not because nobody cares, as "pure healers" tend to think.

On the forum, the worst thing that can happen is getting a headache because of the amount of time you hit a brick wall of naivety and ignorance. So it's easier to try changing people's mentality here than in game.

I'm not ignoring anything. Trolls put you on the defensive, and you let them win if you respond to their irrelevant distractions.

Pretty much every "healer must DPS" is going to look at that and go "you suck", yet:

- Content was cleared
- Content was not spoiled
- I was not overgeared for the content
- Bard DPS was writing puns at every opportunity (and the entire reason the chat had to be blocked at all)
- Tank was responding to the puns with groans and comments similar to that
- Bard has all their combat classes at 60, and appears to main Bard
- Tank has all their combat classes at 60, and appears to main Scholar
- Dragoon is playing their only level 60 DPS class
- Bard and Tank clearly know each other and are on the same FC.

- I healed primarily using Cure / Cure II and brought out other healing options when I felt it was called for. You know, the way the upcoming V4.0 WHM Lily system would benefit from.


Nobody was telling anyone how to play their role. Everyone was having fun. That is how I prefer to play PUG content.

So give it a rest. Yoshi-P has made his intentions clear multiple times since the beginning of the game, and every time, "the meta" turns people into obnoxious trolls. Let players experience the content for themselves and if you don't like how other people play, form a static with like-minded people and leave the duty finder alone.
