[Request] Imperial "Beast Tribes". Play for the Empire!

Something I would really like.. is the ability to play for the Empire somehow.

I mean to some of us. The Empire actually can be appealing. One does not have to be Kefka batshit crazy to be an imp. Look at Leo and Celes.

Needless to say, I would be happy to keep RPing my lore as a Magitek Runic Mystic with an official beast tribe like quest, cept it being for the Imperial faction.

(That of Imperial GC would be nice..)

    Thoughts anyone?

I could see a "beast tribe" of Imperials who deserted the Empire working within the lore. Working with them to set up an escape route for others like them and building a place to call home.

I doubt actually working for the Empire itself would happen, working with them now and again on matters of mutual interest might be possible (primal threat for example,) but a beast tribe daily quest setup for the Garleans themselves seems very unlikely.

Correct me if I'm wrong (FFVI has been a while), but arent both Leo and Celes ultimatly "traitors" as in people who deserted?

My point being here is basically: The Empire is one of our main antagonists. Even if we might share some intrestes they end up being a threat - we're going to spend the next few weeks trying to liberate two nations from their influence (and sorry, as much as one might agree with their wish to get rid of primals, I've got a bit more trouble with symphasizing with them overthrowing Doma an Ala Mhigo). There has to be a lot of change to make the actual empire a friend of ours. It would also mean losing our most constant threat, which would be a very odd thing...

Maybe, But then again, some of us may like being a Sith too. =p

However Ill go ahead and concede. The idea of a Imperials who deserted the Empire and created their own camp. That could be acceptable. They could still value "Power" or military might, minus the "Lets take over the world and kill everyone" thing.

Oh, I dont doubt that - but that basically requires a second campaign, does it not? ;P

I guess that could be intresting though - unlikely, because it would mean making a second mainquest more or less, but intresting. Just not something I could see happening atm - not when we have characters on our side like Lucia, Cid and now Nero who all fleed the empire... would be a bit awkward to go and join them now for those three, wouldnt it?

Vidu, One could say, How come the "Light" gets to dictate how I should play.

One should be able to be a balance of light and darkness. Even in the MSQ the Warriors of Darkness who were the heroes talked about this. So there could come a time... when the warrior of light. Needs to balance the status quo again.

Either way. Would be fun. Of even if it was a GC. This way for PVP, one could support the empire.

We obviously have different point of views - because I wouldnt say its the "Light" that dictates how to play but the writers of the story. (You might have also noticed that its not so much the "Light", as in Hydalyean herself, that dictates our movements but rather a large amount of politics. Little of what we did in Ishgard came down to the "Light" dictating anything and an aweful lot was connected to Ishgardian politics) And for them the Empire is the main antagonist right now - getting rid of that (and to form an alliance you would have to) would mean a major change within the whole story itself. For that to happen we had to cats our differences aside (so either Eorzea doesnt care about independence anymore or the Empire stops conquering the whole world) which would only make sense when there is a great threat to the both of us (Ascians come to mind).
And thats basically my point here: Right now it doesnt make much sense to form a real, lasting alliance with the Empire - and I'd rather not see a drastic change like that without a really good cause and development leading towards it. And even then you wouldnt play for the Empire but if anything have that absorbed as city state.

I'm not speaking up against this - again: I'd consider an empire-campaign, so to speak, rather intresting. But that would be more of a seperate mainquest rather than our current character becoming some sort of person connected to the Empire. Just like how we stumbled into Ishgard as some sort of freelancer instead of being revelead as the true heir of the house Fortempes.

So yeah my opinion to this basically is: we either need a second mainquest with a maincharacter whos part of the Empire OR we need very, very, very good reason to turn one of the main antagonists of the game into an alley (aswell as find a proper replacment). If I were asked to guess I'd say both are highly unlikely - and I'm perfectly fine with that since I have no desire to play as a Garlean or have the Empire as part of the alliance. (You might disagree, but please keep in mind that you asked for thoughts - here are mine, sorry that they differ from yours. I just cant see a permanent alliance fit into the narrative of the game very well)

Your basically wanting them to change a core aspect of the design of the game. That isn't really reasonable or feasible Even trying to do that would massively increase the workload as a massive amount of content couldn't be shared. Simply put, its impractical.

I understand you interest (though I don't particularly share it) but this game just isn't built that way.

That said, we will probably work with the empire eventually. However expect us to be working for a common cause, probably with more moderate elements, rather than 'turning to the dark side'.

The problem with your suggestion is that this game is designed to only tell one story. The good vs bad kind of plotlines wouldn't really work with a title like this unless it was rebuilt from the ground up with that in mind.

    No.

The Garlean Empire is a clear and present danger to Eorzea, the idea of the WoL working for them is completely wrong. It would be like working for the Allagans or Ascians. Of course I have no doubt that there are players who want to play the bad guys, but we are not the bad guys in this game, we are the good guys and that's how it needs to remain.
