That's lovely, but doesn't change that how they designed the content no healer would ever need to be healing 100% of the time. If they truly don't expect healers to DPS, then they need mobs to hit harder, damage to be more random as opposed to heavily scripted as we have now, and one of the big elephant in the room addressing just how powerful healers are in this game.

I dabbled in healing in some other MMO's before, and I never really felt I had a chance to do DPS, or at least to the extent I can get away with it in this game.

So while his words say they don't expect healer DPS, the entire design of content says the complete opposite.

Lol. I'm sure this game doesn't have to worry about such ultimatums. You and they won't quit and even if you did you'll be back. It's how this game and it's community works. Largely due to one simple fact... there is nothing else unless you want to play WoW.

Oh, they won't quit, but they might decide to play one of those flashy new DPS jobs. People complain about how DPS queues will be long because we got 2 DPS in the expansion, but then completely forget the fact that it is vital to make healers and tanks as appealing as possible to compensate.

Healers across the board have had too many strikes, no new healer is strike 1, WHM being bad is strike 2, and now this attitude of Yoshi Ps (which contradicts the design of content) dividing the community is strike 3, that's a bit much controversy considering how important it is for players to continue playing healer instead of trying the brand new expansion jobs.

Yoshi-P doesn't dictate the meta that has evolved as a result of the playerbase.

If you are on healer, and are jumping around and/or doing the Manderville dance for 50% of the dungeon, please still expect to be asked to contribute more or get kicked.

Okay..... Yoshi P's opinion on the matter doesn't change that dps is still an option for healers. Any party, given the option, will choose the healer that contributes dps over the one who doesn't or can't. People will continue to vote kick healers doing the bare minimum(different playstyles). Likely players who are bad or learning will get kicked bc people mistake them for being in that same category. Please look forward to it.

I will still kick you if you stand around and do nothing but wait to heal, differing play styles is still 100% a valid reason to kick people, if you do not want to conform to the group's strategy you need to leave.

It's interesting that some keep thinking that those endlessly fighting about "WHM being bad" or this kind of minutiae on forum and social media are any representation of the "community."

The community is made by hundreds of thousands of players, the vast majority of which never reads forums or reddit, care only if their job is enjoyable, and can't care one bit about a bunch of people in a hellhole of a forum bickering about tooltips that aren't even final.

Dude let me tell you, if I had an option to select a queue for my dungeon roulettes that only queued me in with healers who dps'd I would use that queue every single time as long as the wait time wasn't over an hour and a half. All the honest healers disappearing off the face of Eorzea would make me just as happy as can be. Now if we could get rid of the dps who insist on single target rotations in AE situations too, that would be the best.

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't pay attention to how my party members are playing their jobs. Personally, I queue for roulette, chat with my group members, Moogle dance and jump around.... its a game, lighten up people.
People are far too invested in this debate and fail to realize their opinion is just that, an opinion. Some may agree with you others wont, and the majority probably don't care one way or the other.

I don't believe you for a second. You'd be finished a run in the time you'd be waiting even if the healer wasn't dpsing.
