DPS jobs were the roles in need in DF at HW launch. Some months after it not anymore.Omg! you're right! it's a self-destructing conspiracy from Yoshi-P! nah but seriously, this was the case when nin came out (granted, not for as long) but it wasn't the case when HW came out, bt now it's being anticipated for stormblood? well i don't know about you, but i see a pattern shaping O.o
Some months after SB the DF queue will be normal again.
Normal mean: 1 sec queue for tank, 20 sec queue for healer and 10-30 minutes queue for DPS

But the difference between 3.0 and 4.0 is stated right in the beginning of the sentence. Each class was represented equally, which is why the drop wasn't as huge, and the added fact the classes were open at the start of 3.0, also helped keep the numbers low as people wanted to do 3.0 content and not continue with 2.0 content. The logic that Yoshi is using is:
Introducing a new tank and healer did not dramatically change the total population percentages of those roles. In fact the change was so small as to be considered negligible iirc. That said, introducing new dps will not dramatically change the total population percentages of that role. We'll see if it's a good hunch to follow in the coming months.
NIN impacted the queues in an entirely different way, with it's release being in the middle/end of 2.0, it was the new thing to do at time there wasn't really anything to do. So we can't really compare NIN in 2.0 with 3.0. Just like 4.0 won't be able to be comparable with past class releases.

It really won't make too big of a difference on the ques, or take that long to balance out, especially with everyone being so in love with PotD for leveling these days. Even if it did, in the grand scheme of things when it comes to an MMO, 2 months is a fairly short amount of time. Hell, for some RPGs in general that aren't MMOs, 2 months is a short amount of time gameplay wise for people who can't play for ten hours a day. Most content like relic quests and raids work on a "several weeks or months" timeline for all but the most hardcore players who feel like grinding a ton. The fact that things seem like they're taking so long at the moment is due to anticipation for the expansion more than anything, so of course we're going to feel like it's dragging on more than usual. If there's plenty of content in the expansion, (which it's looking like there will be), those first two or three months will go by pretty quickly for the players who don't just try to rush through it all....
Also, in regards to the ques, you have to take into account that there are a lot of players who will want to test out the changes to their current classes, and pick up the new skills for them by leveling up and progressing the story. Yes, there are some who are deciding to abandon ship even before they play the changes, (particularly a lot of WHMs), and there are others who just want to test out the new classes as soon as they can, but there are still a lot of us who want to play our own class more and just want to see the new story content......
That all makes sense but I didn't compare DRK and AST to NIN. I'm pointing out that they're expecting no major change to player population in the DPS role because in the near identical circumstances of 3.0, we did not see any major change to the player population for tank and healer. But the difference between 3.0 and 4.0 is stated right in the beginning of the sentence. Just wait until Stormblood comes out. This is pointless to worry about too much. It's not happening yet.
Do we really need another one of these "the sky is falling, because of DPS queue threads?". Methinks not.

Leveling dungeons will probably be ridiculous for a very long time. But dungeons aren't even the most efficient way to level DPS these days, so it doesn't bother me.
I plan to charge a lot more than that on my server. Selling yourself short I reckon.Oh, I never really considered that. Well, there goes my theory, lol.
In light of that.......OMG QUEUE TIMES!!!! XD XD XD.
I'm still gonna tank and heal until I hit 70. And you can tag along with me if you see me in PF for the low low price of 25k gil per run! Hehehehehe.
What do you expect us to do, OP?
Majority of the playerbase likes to play DPS, SE thinks there is no need for new Healers and Tanks, so they add more DPS. The only way we can fix the queue, is by having the DPS players play the other roles, but this is where the problem lies, those DPS players do not want to play the other roles. SE cant force them, the playerbase cant force them. Nothing can be done about this.
We will have longer queue, we will have to deal with it.
