If we assume that is 2 months minimum, well the Stormblood info embargo was 5 days ago! feels like an eternity right?
The live letter from the producers was 2 weeks ago! I dont even remember that thing anymore.
Hatching tides was 1 month ago!

You're brushing a sixth of a full year off like it's nothing lol that's a twelth of the time until the next expac spent in queues.

They'll be fine. Just like they were with Ninja. I dont think it'll take a couple months for it to level out.

People are just panicking for the sake of it. Ninja was added in 2.4 when people were working on alt classes, so it will be nothing like this situation. Most people I speak to who are raiding are levelling their mains first ready for the new raid.

To be fair, everyone and their goldfish is going to be doing POTD to get from 50-60, so it shouldn't be much of an issue there.

That said, queue times for the MSQ / leveling dungeons from 60 onward are probably going to be pretty unpleasant for DPS.

You're right! DPS will never get queues, which means they'll ALL quit! Without any DPS, tanks and healers won't get queues, and they'll quit too! Then nobody will be playing and FFXIV will shut down! AGAIN!

DPS jobs were the roles in need in DF at HW launch. Some months after it not anymore.


Some months after SB the DF queue will be normal again.
Normal mean: 1 sec queue for tank, 20 sec queue for healer and 10-30 minutes queue for DPS

My optimistic estimate, is that by the time it 'levels out' DPS queues are gonna be a firm 20-30 minute for a pop. No more random fast 10 minute or less ones.

Yeah I don't thonk the queues are going to change much. Most players will probably level the new classes through potd because you can get to 70 inside potd pretty quick and practice all the new abilities along the way before you actually level them to 70.

Which means they will use their main classes for story content and probably won't affect the DF queues quite as bad as you think.

I certainly hope i'm wrong, just observing a trend in forums and reddit, usually i'd consider it a loud minority, but these posts get hundreds upon hundreds of posts, so that worries me a bit. I'm a tank main switching to SAM myself, so part of the problem i guess :-\
