The currently active playerbase, duh? Not the people on random gaming forums going "oh my god, this game I don't play and which I think is not worth my time is charging a sub fee even though I still don't find it worth playing! This is an outrage!".

the problem from the start is SE did not want to listen to anyone besides the same people who played ffxi. that is why this game runs the exact same. there is a reason only 40 chars can be shown on screen at a time. ffxi was like that. this game is broke because it wont listen to anyone besides those telling them its enjoyable. the majority opinions matter, but will never be heard with the biased dev team on these forums deleting any post that does not say... oh Thank you SE for selling me a unfinished product then laying out a map. to the finished version. ill pay for the unfinished crap you sold me until the real game gets here... yea only die hard fanboys throwing money at SE matter the gaming community that SE is targeting over here does not matter.

They are taking the sub fee away again for the general population next year.

If you don't think that the announcement of 2.0 didn't drastically weaken the growth potential of this game up until it's release you are sadly mistaken. Most people are going to wait it out.

Acting as if the general population didn't matter to SE is silly at best. They matter once the time comes, and it is not by 1.20.

and no i personally don't think 2.0 weakens anything, the game was dead 2 weeks after it released. yes there are some realms that had a small group willing to play. but in the end the reason for 2.0 was to fix the issues with this game. those issues are not going anywhere till 2.0 and the majority could care less about empty promises. promises we heard 5 years ago when we all heard about ffxiv. the same empty promises that crushed the growth of this game by releasing it in this state. its my opinion that listening to people who enjoy the game as it is, is reason it made it to release, the way it is. so if anything i say good make these people pay they deserve to pay for helping screw this game up

The majority do not care about empty promises, as such they are not going to play before 2.0, as such it doesn't matter whether there is a sub fee in place before 2.0 because they weren't going to play before it in the first place. Only those who think the game is playable as is are affected by the fee.

If they truly cared more about the people playing now, all the dev time would be going towards the current build and not the 2.0.

i have played for 30 days really? my sign it date says it all. i have played for about 3 weeks have gained 30 levels in that time and i am bored out of my mind already. see i played more games than ffxi. the leve system is a broken washed down daily system jacked from wow. and the lag in this game is unbearable. there is a reason why playing it for free is acceptable and paying for it is not. that is because you get what you pay for. and paying sub for this is not worth it.

In game, people aren't behaving this way, except...you guys. Nobody gives a crap what a bunch of raging guys on some fansite like ZAM gripe about when they have no intention of playing this game either way.

The simple fact is that, while you may be in the majority in the overall world-wide opinion that XIV is a bad game, among the current players (the people who actually matter at this point in time) you are in the minority.
