I can only hope, unlike the OP, that Yotsuyu is not some stupid throwaway comic cartoon villain. SE doesn't appear to be hinting at that. Alas, his hopes may be dashed.

Who knows, perhaps in the future we'll need to liberate Gridania or some other nation from Ala Mhigo, based on its history...

Again, I am hoping we see a nuanced portrayal of these things and not some silly "rah rah lets kick Garlean butt" attempt to cater to the lowest common denominator.

Ultimately, people have already articulated their reasons for being enthusiastic about the expansion but also have some valid concerns about it. There is no overall air of negativity insofar as it is concerned. It is better to voice concerns early on than to suppress them to keep some delusional sense of hype up.
