Thats true... but that would make the game even more unique i think. The problem I can see with a non humanoid race is having to rework every single head piece in the game so that they fit as well as the other pieces if they are very non humanoid. I'm guessing when they added in Au-Ra, there was only a small amount of work needed to make each gear fit them. And even after that there still are clipping issues. I know people really want a non humanoid race but the amount of work needed would span years I think unless they throw a really big amount of money for it, money that could be spent on other things.
I would love to get back all the race from the Tactics

I could definitely get behind this. I'd love to see more varied races than "human" and "human with features added". Granted, I'd prefer Ivalice moogles, but Bangaa are cool too. Or Nu Mou!
I would play one if they made them for sure more so then if their next race is yet again another human with bunny ears/tail this time around
As has been brought up in other threads on the topic, another big problem with "inhuman" looking races is justifying why they count among the human races when they look less human than Amal'ja or Ixali do. Conflict between the humans and the beast tribes is a central component of the game. Adding a playable beast race would really muddy the issue.
That lore-related reason, along with the development-related reason (they'd have to remodel every single piece of gear in the game to fit the new race), is a pretty strong indicator that SE would be resistant to adding an inhuman-looking race.
Ah good old time.... I played FFXII.
Yes I liked this race. But, then I saw internet...people nasty with them...
People think Bangaas are "furry"?

I believe Au'ra are actually considered separate from the "favored 5" races. Also, while conflict has been a central component, we also have MANY examples of them cooperating with beastmen, with sylphs, goblins, qiqirns, and mamool ja being a large example, and Vanu Vanu being a more recent example (Vath kinda don't do much with society, unless you do their quests). Lorewise a beastmen character could expect some prejudices, but not enough to kick them out of town (Well... except Ul'dah). As has been brought up in other threads on the topic, another big problem with "inhuman" looking races is justifying why they count among the human races when they look less human than Amal'ja or Ixali do. Gobbie for life.... lol! I could count my jinglyshine. don't give me any flappygums.
100% support
IF we were to get a more non-human race, I'd rather it be one of the current ones we have. Though Bangaa aren't a bad choice if they wanted beast like ones not currently in-game.
Though then you run into the problem of "Would enough people change to it to justify making it?"
To be fair, they basically need to do this regardless of how any new race looks. Adjusting for pointy Elezen ears, cat ears, horns, etc. For most body gear it's probably at least a simple sliding scale they can adjust for mostly-similar body types. For head gear, since head ornamentation is one of the typical racial differentiation features, I'd wager they just have some sort of "add-on" function that auto-adjusts gear according to whatever it needs to work around. With new gear constantly being added, you gotta think that if they future-proofed, adding new races, that are at least somewhat similar, isn't nearly as complicated as "adjusting every single piece of gear." They would presumably know better than to create a system that would just get more and more complicated as more gets added.
So, if they've already got systems in place to adjust and account for new racial features, all they really need to do is create a scaling method that can adjust gear to a different body shape. Which sounds almost doable, but you're bound to get a lot of awkward stretch and squash somewhere as body shapes get further from current norm.
I just don't envisage them actually ever going through to manually adjust every single gear asset for every single race, as well as every single body size you can come up with in the current system. Any new race most probably just needs some "measurements" put into a function that automatically produces gear that looks like it fits properly. Unfortunately, gear was still designed for the mostly-generic body type we have, so any wide deviations will be difficult/awkward to incorporate.
