So, I've got two stories to share - they're actually connected, though.
I've been a bit bored today, so I decided to do a few mentor roulettes on my scholar. After a few runs I noticed that I'm getting paired up with a lot of french people - a language I dont speak, so I'm a little grumpy (How am I supposed to help when I cant communicate?). Why are they queueing for english when they dont speak that language! And why am I getting paired up with them when I queued for english/german?
...or... did I not...? Memories come flodding back to me, from last week, when I wanted to help a friend with an Haukke NM inprogress and turned on... french to fish for their party... maybe... I never changed that back...?

So in the middle of that Brayflox run I check my DF - and yep, there it is: english/french... so for once it was me who queued for a language she didnt speak.
Back to that brayflox run though: three french people, two leafies, one level 60 BLM. After we killed the first boss the tank thankfully moves on straight to the second one, avoiding as many mobs as possible - only the BLM wanders off... pulls some extra fishies... birds... those amphibians. Now hes running around with 15 mobs, while we're finishing off the three that are actually blocking the entrance to the second boss. He dies, returns and apologises - "Sorry I need success". Which seems as an odd thing to say - pulling a full room off mobs and dying to it doesnt seem very "successful" to me. After a bit back and forth it turns out that he meant that he still has to discover the whole map...

I try not to post horror stories here cause I want to post happy ones. But I have to share this one cause maybe it's me. I haven't healed on my Astro in like months. So I do some dungeons and get to Sohm Al. ugh... I mention I'm new but no matter what I do the tank is taking ALOT of damage in the first two rooms. We wipe 3 times as I honestly couldn't keep him up. He goes into this rage - which is I guess - understandable.- But after being told the " you suck, heals are weak"I explain again it's been awhile and my bad. I didn't blame anyone but myself and told him what I was doing. I was trying to DPS and heal all at once but I stopped DPSing cause everytime I'd try he'll die. We finally get it done and he says " learn to heal, learn to DPS, and " some other stuff which pissed the other members off. I simply said " my bad" If someone is actively listening to you and only blaming themselfs why would you continue to be salty and insult them still? I don't get it. If THAT is what new players deal with I understand why they snap at you " pros"

Look I understand people want to Sonic their way in these dungeons for whatever reason. But if someone is trying why do you feel the need to be salty about it? Maybe next time people need to once again listen instead of only thinking about " me me me " and maybe you'll see that " OH they are actually listening and not shutting me out. Maybe I should do the same and not be a dick" I dunno... it just might work. People should try it.

I did a Cutter's Cry run as a my whm that was just barely high enough to get in and ended up stuck in a dungeon with this paladin dressed in dps gear, would not use either oath, would not flash, and would not even try to pull enemies off of other people. All he would do is run up to an enemy and use his regular combo.

As much as I wanted to just walk away, I didn't want the penalty. After the time had passed, I started a vote to abandon. The dps refused. So I stayed.

Needless to say, it took a while to trudge through this s**tshow of a dungeon run.

Next time, I'll take the penalty and go find something else to do for a while.

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

If healers don't want to DPS, I will accept that. As long as they keep everyone alive. Even if they're SCHs, and the tank is doing the smallest pulls possible. I love DPSing as a healer, but some of the worst healers I have ever seen, let people die because they were too busy DPSing. I'd rather have a healer who actually heals than one who does damage and doesn't know how to heal.

So, fine. You don't want to DPS as a SCH. Not even in Sohm Al Hard. But if you're not DPSing, and everyone is taking so little damage that you honestly have nothing to do except stand around watching us kill Lava Scorpion, how about casting an Adloquium on the tank when a Deadly Thrust is clearly about to go out? All it takes is the push of one button. It's not that complicated.

That aside, why is it that the worst healers I've ever seen or heard of, both skill and attitude-wise, all seem to be WHMs? I find WHMs who have no idea how to play their job, don't even know what half their skillset does, and more often than not, they're one half of an annoying couple who defend each other's complete lack of skill. And who decide to shit on others for not being able to carry them.

It's like if WAR and DRK are the edgy jobs that attract idiots, WHM is just another type of job that also attracts idiots.

As a tank, I would've just simply suggest to focus as much as possible on the healing and let everyone else do the rest. I appreciate healers who can do both but I also appreciate one who knows their limits and focus on what they can do best, which is healing. Also, I don't know how your tank was leading but a good tank knows when to recognize when his/her party isn't doing so hot and take it slow, group by group.

Now if even all of that doesn't work out, best to vote abandon and everyone go their separate ways before the nasty words come out.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

really? I found ASTs to be the idiot-magnet. :P including MANY of them reluctant to play cards actively. Because "theyre not really needed".

Playing BLM, Weeping City. We wipe to first boss because no is intercepting orbs and no one dropped down below. We fumble through second boss because no tanks picked up adds or even the boss after the original tank died to Hell Wind. We fumble our way through Ozma because meteors. We get to the last boss. Tank doesn't know how to position her.

    Uh oh.

Constant spinning. People dying because they can't be bothered to look at her hair (as bad as the tank was, the vast majority of deaths could have been avoided imo). At around 20%, I'd wager at most half the raid was alive? By the time we got to 5%, it was literally 4 of us. Me (on BLM btw, keep that in mind), the tank who doesn't know how to position her, a healer, and I think 1 more dps.

This is a visual representation of how I felt that whole time while keeping up my rotation:

I ran into another player wearing nothing but glamour gear yesterday, but this time, it was the tank. He was also wearing an Alpine Coat, which means he was more then high enough in level to glamour.

After I discreetly pointed out that I shouldn't have more HP then him as a DPS, his retort was "Is this Alexander Savage?", then amusingly, got melted a few seconds later by one of the harder hitting pulls before the first boss of Cutter's Cry.

He then asked us to kick him, but decided to humor him a little by not doing so until he eventually refused to go any further. We ended up finishing the dungeon without a tank, but it went a lot more smoothly then I would've expected.

I'm still not really sure what he was trying to accomplish, though...

Little rant here about the state of the community right now.

Is it just me or the average skill level in the game dropped massively lately ?

I mean, in the past weeks, I've tried to farm a12s to get enough tomes for the sam weapon on release. Only 8 tomes, should be done quickly with a farm group I told myself. When the first echo nerf was implemented, farming groups were a thing and it was easy to find at least one who can clear it on a solid basis.

Well, that's provided I can actually find a farm group now, because I've been in so many farming parties with so many lazy people and so many fails on simple mecanics and dps checks (with echo for god's sake !) I just stopped doing it.
What happened ? Why so many "farm" groups are composed of people who can not farm this content or know the basic mecanics or at least play their job properly ? That's really beyond me.

And it doesn't stop here, same can be said for ex trials (damn farming those birds was a pain) and even Potd where some people just auto follow ...

The worst part is being flamed for pointing out those fails.
