Not all games have to be like FFXI "with all the features of WoW".

I feel like I spent the first week after 1.19 complaining over the stupid dye system, the stupid item and crafting changes, the stupid skill-less materia RNG, the stupid spiritgrind concept, etc., so I dont really feel like giving FFXIV team my appreciation.

Maybe they can impress everyone else with false promises, but lots of stupid ideas get green lit lately and im not impressed.

Maybe you should start your own nonappreciation thread. I'll be sure to post there about how much I appreciate this game.

    1. gratitude; thankful recognition: They showed their appreciation by giving him a gold watch.

    2. clear perception or recognition, especially of aesthetic quality: a course in art appreciation.

    3. an increase or rise in the value of property, goods, etc.

Understandably though, many people won't be excited due to the fact that we've been let down before by SE. I'm a positive person and like to keep my glass half full. A picture is worth a thousand words, and that picture reveals a vision for FFXIV that surpassed most people's expectations in one shot. Don't let people like Kirith bring you down.
Hey man, let's not get hostile. Everyone has their say (even though they tend to lean more towards the ridiculous end on these boards). I was way more negative than that dude before the changes that the new XIV team brought really began to pop out and become noticeable. Like straight up bashing every single aspect of it, writing poor reviews on Amazon, sending negative feedback to SE, etc. I was becoming optimistic after 1.18 but was sold on 2.0 and the idea of more FFXI (and a teaspoon of WoW) in my FFXIV but without the frustrating/outdated bits.

Speaking of which, I found out last night that I could finally map my keyboard buttons the way I wanted to and it blew my mind. Now if only this game wouldn't crash so often.

I'd like to cheer the current efforts of Yoshida and the dev team. Half a year to a year ago I didn't have much hope for this game, the future was pitch black and I was ready to leave it behind. But I have to say that the game has much improved, I'm having fun and feeling at home now. The future looks bright, even though right now the game is far from exceptional.

The important actions I feel SE has done right:
    - The open communication
    - The direction of the game (especially with 2.0 in mind)
    - The effort, especially considering that this game could have been left for dead

Keep up the good work, don't let us down.

Your dictionary skills are astounding, thanks for that insight. BTW. his statement is extremely true and represents the views of many people. It was pretty tame for an appreciation thread compared to what he could have brought up.

God what is it with all these brown noser threads. I would appreciate it if people would quit making appreciation threads. We need to have more threads on how to improve the game beyond what 1.19 brought us.

True as it might be, this is an appreciation thread. Like I said, things like that can go into a separate nonappreciation thread.

What you're talking about already makes up about 90% of the other threads in this forum. A thread like this popping up from time to time may just cheer the devs up. Yoshi himself said that positive statements and praise keep him going, and positive threads like these are far and few between. No need to taint them with whiny statements about the game.

I'll be the first to say I had my reservations about the future state of ffxiv at multiple points, but I held fast to my belief in Square Enix as a company. From publishing to anime to games, SE has brought me thousands of hours of quality entertainment. There are still 1000 things that need to be done to get this game to the level I know it can be, but I would be remiss if I did not express gratitude for the open and humbled attitudes of the Xiv staff and their relentless commitment to improving this game, even if some changes are not well received by all.

Commence the personal attacks if you like but I have fun on Xiv almost nightly. That may be due to the game mechanics, or the people online I have made real connections with over the past year. Ether way, as long as SE continues to devote time to his game, so shall I.

    The first week after 1.19?

Have you checked your post history lately?

    You complain about practically everything.

    Constantly.

Every thread I see started by you is to complain about something. Every post I see made by you is to complain about something.

If there were no such thing as complaining, you would have nothing to post here.
