Not that I want remakes, I would like a lot of the old Square games to have world wide releases though. Australia got bugger all Square games before PS1, we didn't even get those Dragon Quest games the rest of the world got.
Having the opportunity to buy the Romancing SaGa series(Switch digital release would be amazing) is more of what I would like. Also, I really want that Seiken Densetsu Switch collection.

I want FF8 to get the HD remake it deserves... also potential for an event in FFXIV.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Final Fantasy 9.

FF6 is at the top of the list, hands down. Yes it has a mobile port, the mobile port is not what people wanted and feels like they shoe-horned FFV's sprites into it instead of retaining the look of the SNES game sprites even though they retained the look of the backgrounds. Yoshitaka Amano's art style is hard to translate to 3D, let alone 2D, so a remake would likely look a lot like FFXIV's FFVI references. In many cases you could say FFXIV's V1.0/V2.0 storyline is what FFVI would look like. I made that observation WAY back in V1.0 beta that there was a lot of stuff inspired by FFVI.I stumbled upon this interview with Takashi Katano, Lead Director of FF12: The Zodiac Age in where he got asked in which RPG would be next to be remade from prior to the PS2. His answer was: “We really have to hear their voices on that, if they want to see a remake or a remaster of a certain game then that's more likely to be the one we go for. I've personally been working at Square Enix for 20 years now and I've got a lot of memories from that time. I think the way that we look at it is not the game that we would like to remake it's really down to what the players, the fans, want to see."
So I would love to hear you thoughts on this.....which RPG from Square's past prior to the PS2 would like them to remake?
P.S. Stormblood is just around the corner.....what also are you guys excited for in Stormblood?
My choices are as follows:
1. FF6/FF3(US)
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars(Hoping SE and Nintendo work again like before)
Your choices?

Chrono Trigger would be second, but it would have to be part of a Chrono Trigger + Chrono Cross + new Chrono-series game (eg Chrono Break) to really justify it, as it's actually a game that would look better as a 2D HD sprite RPG game like in the Shantae games if they retained the Akira Toriyama art style (known for DBZ.) Part of it's style is tied to that.
Super Mario RPG is wishful thinking and I doubt it would happen under Square...
I don't think they own that license or any of the IP other than what is in Xenogears itself. Xenosaga and Xenoblade I believe are both owned by Nintendo after acquiring Monolith.
Here's an idea. Nintendo could ask Square Enix to remake Super Mario RPG and the entire "Xeno-series", in trade Square gets to publish these titles on more than just the Nintendo consoles. Or Square could give Nintendo all the IP rights back for Super Mario RPG, and Nintendo will give Square the rights to publish new Xeno-series chapters. That would still leave the problem of needing some kind of Square-Enix oversight to bring Super Mario RPG, or any remake-sequel back into the realm of RPG's from where it is currently (people basically say that the Paper Mario series died with Super Paper Mario, and the only Nintendo-produced kinda-sequel that is good is 1000 year door. The M&L games not withstanding, people aren't really fond of the direction Paper Mario has gone.)

I'm gonna be the pessimist and say I'd rather not get remakes. The Square of today isn't on par with the Square that made those games originally and I don't have confidence that they would be done well. That said, the remasters of FFX and FFXII are more my speed. I would love to see the PS1 era games remastered with only adjustments like HD backgrounds, translation fixes, and sound/music upgrades. I would be way more excited for the upcoming FFVII if I knew it was essentially the same game and not just based on it.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
A complete 3d, proper open world remake of Chrono Trigger (with the original gameplay intact) has my vote. I put so much time in the original + DS version of the game, to the point where I had everyone on capped stats with optimal equipment, all endings achieved and 100% monster log.
And then I kept playing some more :P
In before the tbread is closed, lol
#1 Suikoden
#2 FF9
