Crafted gear: I'm ok with anyone having access to this for glamour.
Dungeon/Raid gear: I like the idea of unlocking these after the major version number changes (people can only have 3.0 gear once 4.0 hits, and so on) since it gives the main jobs for that gear about 2 years to show off with their personal glamour options before others can have it. Or at the very least 6 month later when the next new ilvl cap is added.
AF gear: Should only ever be used by the job its for. Just doesn't feel right to let iconic job gear be used by other jobs. And not having access to one line of sets out of all the gear in this game shouldn't be a problem.
Like this everyone should get what they want in one way or another, mostly. Healers can wear plate armor. Tanks get more cleavage showing gear from DPS roles, and DPS can enter battle in full mages robes if they like.

Job specific AF should be the only locked ones.
When you see a piece of gear drop that's role locked, and then later down the road another role gets it... is just stupid; shouldn't be locked at any point - and to make it worse you see NPCs break the rules all the time. Seeing Doga and Unei wearing tank and healer gear while being casters for example, after being told rubbish such as "we don't want casters in tank gear" and "work needs to be done for animations to let this happen" (the latter being complete nonsense) is beyond ridiculous and annoying.
Why is an item like the Hempen Tunic only DoW anyway; what makes this a DoW specific item? The examples go on... The restrictions are arbitrary and should be removed.
Oh, and don't get me started on DoL and DoH gear being restricted to just them roles... such beautiful sets relegated to obscurity.

Yes, however I think it would be nice if you could select multiple glamours for an item to get around this issue.
I'm fine with glamour remaining job specific. I'd rather glamour be saved to the job, rather than the gear, itself. A glamour that looks good on PLD, may not fit DRK. Same thing for BRD/MCH, ect.

Eh I think magic jobs should be able to cross glamour to a degree... casters always get the sexy robes while healers are always left with the "pure healer desu" style

But it's okay for tanks to enter combat in bikinis? Let's be real here: the glamour restrictions aren't applied evenly. Tanks can wear basically something of every style in the game while caster / healer jobs have very few "non-cloth" options, and MNK is only slightly better in that department.

Personally, I'd be in favor of cross-class glamours. It would give people much more freedom to invent creative glamours, just like the OP has done.
Some people might argue that people glamouring as roles that they clearly are not shouldn't be allowed because it could fool people, but I disagree with that statement. The entire argument is moot to begin with in PvE, where the only people who really have to watch the other players are the healers, and even then they usually pay more attention to their health bar than their appearances. As for PvP, although it could cause some confusion, you have to keep in mind that all of your opponents are labelled with their class rather than their names. You could have a White Mage opponent who looks like a Dragoon, but he'll be carrying a staff and he'll be clearly named as "White Mage".
It could of course lead to some rediculous combinations that break other people's sense of immersion, but let's be honest here; That's already happening.
