Well, they said they were going to switch to a different system after the rank 13 (three years) reward of the Tantalus Attire. But now there's a rank 14 reward (for four years) of the Leonhart Attire. So it looks like they changed their minds and decided to keep the overall system after all. It's just the interval at which new ones are earned has lengthened again. (That, too, was actually an already established pattern, going from 1 month to 3 months to 4 months apart. This was just a bigger jump, boosting it to a year apart between new rewards.)

They said Squall's outfit would be the last. So they didn't change their minds. I suspect, if they do bring it back, veteran players will get a voucher to get something off the mogstation.

As someone whos glamour-crazy and who only started some time after HW has launched, it just really sucks
theres some rewards that are YEARS away from obtaining.

It will still take me 2 years or so to get the Leonhart attire and I want that chest piece so bad. I get it, i gotta "suck it up".
But at least theres an end in sight after that. Would hate it if there was even more to come.
Because it would mean that theres ALWAYS something light years away from me that I cant catch up on.

So I'm cool with changes to the system, really.

That's my sentiment as well. I adore the Leonhart top on Cassie but I'm years away from ever getting it. I really think a free mogstation item benefits everyone.

And a year ago, they said Tantalus's outfit would be the last. They've already extended it to include Squall's for four years of a subscription, and they have nine more months before they need to decide if they'll extend it again for a five year reward.

Basically, until they actually implement a replacement version of veteran rewards, the safe bet is to just assume that "the last one" means the latest they've added so far. (And if they're going to yearly increments, then it would be quite a while before they add another rank anyway.)
