Those grand company seals won't build themselves up.
There may was 2 dungeon gear I actually need for glamour purpose.

Need for glamour, greed for upgrades, letting the timer run out for anything else (distributes the item to a random person that did not pass).
That's my own priority list by default. I tend to adjust to the group, though, so if I see everyone rolling need on everything, I just roll need on everything in that group as well.
I don't understand why people need GC seals? Don't you just turn that into gil?

This has been what I have been doing since forever on other mmo's. Grand company seals arent enough for me to NEED on them. I roll GREED unless someeone requests a drop then i will pass on it. I always appreciated being able to get gear for secondary classes while I was still leveling things, so I feel like I am passing it forward to the next generation of players that are leveling their characters. So I recently asked my FC what the etiquette on gear rolling was because I felt like some of the players I encountered in DF roll Need on gear simply because they can. The general consensus among my FC mates was that the decent thing to do is to only roll Need for glamour or upgrade purposes or for unique items (minions, TT cards, etc), which is the philosophy I adhere to. I then became curious what the community at large thinks are acceptable reasons to roll Need.
So my question: Why do you roll Need?

Need on gear I want for use or glamour.
Greed on gear I want for GC seals, because in that case I just intend to make use of it if no one else wants it.
I personally feel selfish if I Need on something I'm just going to throw away for currency, but I don't feel annoyed or whatever when someone else does it.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.
Yes and no - some items regarding the relic-quest require GC-seals, so thats one "no" and rather "I really need them". Besides there are other items that can only be bought with GC-seals. Squadrons require them too.
Now to the "Yes"-part: As a crafter I'm turning a lot of GC-seals into money, thats right. But its not only trading those seals for money, but also craftign the items - I like crafting and I like getting all mats myself. So something that might only look like me making money (and being greedy) from the outside, is actually me enjoying the game as a mastercrafter.
I need on all unless someone specifically asks (nicely!) or its something I am after, otherwise I will greed or pass.

That was pretty much beaten to death on this thread http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...70-s-in-DS-%28

I've been rolling need recently on any healer (i am almost always WHM) 220+ greens that are weaver desynthable since I am leveling desynth. I can't level off of vendor gear at this point and my only real options are crafted gear (not economically feasible), 230 tome gear, and dungeon drops. I feel like this is an actual need to finish skilling my desynth so I don't feel any guilt over rolling need for those items. Any non-weaver healer gear I greed roll though.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
if i can roll need and it's an item i don't have (or am in a hurry and too lazy to look because the tank just yelled "leeeerooooy jenkinnnns!" and ran down the hall), I roll need. If i have better gear or if it's for an off main job I usually roll greed. If it seems like I won all the recent rolls and it's not a need item I pass because it's not really necessry for me to win all the stuff. I get most of my GCs from hitting every FATE I walk into, so I don't usually need them.
