    Approaching Lvl 60 what now?

Hello everyone! I am approaching level 60 WHM this is my first time at max level! I'm nearly finished the MSQ and wondered what other people focus on post campaign?. I know I need to level a job class I'm currently working on Weaving. What do I need to do to get better gear for WHM? Can you let me know as I've never been to this point in an mmorpg? I will eventually work on a different class but want to focus on WHM post game for a bit! Thanks

    1) Hitting max level does not mean you're finished with the MSQ! You've got several patches of more MSQ-content to go through before finishing that - so you can actually follow the MSQ for a while longer.
    2) Those MSQs will take you into dungeons where you can earn tomestomes (lore and scriptures) that buy current highend gear. You'll also be able to aquire drops from those dungeons, so you're gear-progression will still be on going.
    3) In order to get more gear you can also pick up the two raid-lines: Alexander NM (8man raids) and the Mhach-storyline (24man raids). Both will not only make you follow a new storyline but also get you some highlevel gear.
    4) Certain dungeons and raids will require you to have a certain ilvl - I would advice you to do your daily hunts (you can get them in Foundation, near that pub) to get huntingseals that you can spend on gear, aswell as give PvP a try (to get some quick ilvl235 gear). Depending on your financial situation crafted gear could be an option too. Quick ways to get a half-decent weapon are the Padjal-weapon from Palace of the Dead or, again, PvP - both are ilvl235, so its a good start!
    5) As WHM you might want considering leveling THM to level 26 for swiftcast (with SB around the corner I'm not sure if thats really necessary anymore, but leveling thm while getting yout weapon in PotD might be worth your time)
    6) You dont have to level any crafting/gathering classes - and if you do note that you'll need to level more than one to get all relevant crossclassskills (note: that might change with SB). So if you dont enjoy crafting, I wouldnt bother with it atm.
    7) The Diadem might be worth a look as soon as you have the ilvl for it - you might get lucky and snitch a few ilvl265 pieces from there!

Once you reach level 60, you'll also get optional level 60 dungeons to unlock - those will also reward you with those tomestones to buy better gear.

Additional stuff you want to look out for or consider:
    1) You can pick up a relic-quest
    2) Visit Khloe in idleshire to get her "Wonderous Tales"-book that you can finish each week for additional rewards!
    3) The Warring Triad - aka Sephirot, Sophia and Zurvan - are optional trials you can tackle
    4) If you want to, you can try doing EX-primals and real endgame raids (...that might be a bit in the future though).

My personal advice is: Follow the Mainstory til the end, while knocking out one optional dungeon a day or so. Try some PvP or PotD for fast and easy gear-upgrades til you can afford ilvl260 gear or get drops from Dun Scaith (24 man raid) or The Creator NM (8man raid). What you do beside gearing up is down to you - there are the EX-Primals if you want a real challenge, there are the Beast-Tribe quests you can do daily if you want to grind out a story with some nice rewards (minions, mounts, emotes...), there are pure storytelling sidequests like Hildibrand and the Tehologikum-questline in Ishgard... its really down to what you enjoy!
I would also advice you to ask your FC-mates for help and pointers - maybe someone can craft some gear for you or run dungeons with you! Please not that mass-pulling and speedrunning can be things in level 60 dungeons, so healing might get a little more intresting.
Anyways, gear progression should come more or less natural when you progress with the story and the dungeon-sidequests. The rest is down to you and your goals for the game!

Thank you for such a detailed response here I will be sure to try everything you mentioned. I'll print this out and keep it on hand for reference, seems like there is plenty for me to be doing. Thanks again!

You make many good points, but i do want to correct this. Both the law and the esoteric tomestones have been retired.

The "low" tomestone right now is the Lore(used to buy ilvl 230 gear among other things). Lore's have no weekly cap(you can only hold 2000 at a time, but you can earn as many as you want to put in the time for), are earned for doing almost all level 60 content, are used to buy ilvl 230 gear(plus some other things like quest items and crafting mats), and these are the tomes currently given as a "bonus" for helping newcomers complete level 60 instances(dannykc - as a newcomer yourself you will earn these bonus tomes every time you do something for the first time, as will anyone who helps you).

And that means that the current "high" tomestone is the Scripture. These come from most of the same content as the Lores(you often get some of each when you complete something), but these come in smaller amounts. You can still only hold 2000 at a time, but you can only currently earn 900 of them per week. And as it currently stands(as of my typing this), these are currently only used to buy gear and nothing else. The Scripture tomes let you buy ilvl 260 gear(with armor prices ranging from 375 to 825, weapons are a little more but also require a couple normal-mode raid drops that the armor doesnt require).

Otherwise, what Vidu says is spot on. Continue the main storyline through to see what happens with the Dragonsong War, wrap up some loose ends that have been dangling since before you ever got to Ishgard, and to find out whats leading us into new realms with the upcoming Stormblood expansion. You have beast tribes you can befriend, primals you can fight, ancient history you can try to put to rest(this referring to the Shadows of Mhach storyline), and many other stories to discover. And did you do all the level 50 content that you wanted to? People still explore the Coils of Bahamut and the Crystal Tower to this day if you never got the chance. And if crafting is of interest to you, being up to date on the story gives you more time to devote to that too if you want. As Vidu said, decide what your goals are and youll know what to do next(or what to ask to get pointed in that direction).

Oh goosh, you're right xD Sorry, my mistake indeed - I havent looked at the names for the tomestones for ages - so yes, Lore and Scripture it is, I will correct it at once! Thank you for bringing it to my attention
...that sounded more formal than I wanted it to sound...

My advice is to get to item level 150, then run pvp until you have the 235 pvp items. Don't worry too much about doing a great job, you'll get marks even if you fail.

Once you have the 235 set, play through the MSQ and get to the end and run the last 2 dungeons for the 245 set. Once you have the 245 armor, do Alexander to the end and run Soul of the Creator until you get 4 Alexandrian gears.

Run dungeons until you have 1,000 scripture. You can get 900 the first week, the Tuesday reset will get you the last 100.

Turn it all in to get your 270 weapon. You can also continue running the Alexander for a full 250 set of armor. It should be sufficient to get you into Stormblood content when it releases.
