It might help if you factor in the damage buff from Heavy Thrust and the Ring of Thorns proc that they should totally burn before the doom spike volley.

They could also blow a couple of CDs if there's gonna be more than a minute till they get to the boss

I'd just like to point out for you people who go "LET'S KICK THE HEALERS WHO DON'T DPS" that unjustified uses of the votekick ARE punishable, the game tells you this. And I highly doubt "the Healer wasn't DPSing" is going to be accepted as a reason to kick someone.

You would think that, but kicking people for "different playstyle" reasons is apparently perfectly fine. Of course, I feel that only applies if someone asks/requests the healer to DPS first and they say no for X reason.

Sadly 'Differences in playstyle' is a legitimate kick reasoning.

That said I do think with the upcoming change making it easier for us to dps safely that folks shouldn't be hesitant about trying to throw a few dps moves in between their heals. Just test it out and see if the combat changes make it any easier or less stressful. The only people I'll ever kick are 1) The extremely rude and abusive and 2) Those that would rather stare at the wall than try. I can understand if you're learning the class, adapting to the changes, unfamiliar with the duty, dealing with lag, or coping with a disability. Just give me a heads up.

Is this that big of a issue? I've been in plenty of groups (and still get them) where the healer doesn't dps at all and I've yet to see anyone initiate a kick against them. I don't initiate kicks for this either. Sometimes, I want to think it's the vocal forum goers who say they will, but the majority who don't frequent the forums/the lurkers don't do it.

If you even have Ring of Thorns on your hotbars, you're playing DRG wrong. No matter what the situation is, no matter what you've done in preparation, Doom Spike will always deal more damage. You also can't use the typical "level sync forces me to use it" excuse like you can with most jobs, because for some reason DRG gets Doom Spike four levels before Ring of Thorns.

How I feel about healers and DPSing

Hank Scorpio is, IMO, the sort of character that meets all job expectations. He's compassionate (mentality of a healer), efficient at dealing with his enemies (DPS), and a real take charge kind of guy (mentality of a tank). Please nerf.

The way I always look at it when it comes to 4man dungeons and healers (This speaking as someone who heals and tanks equal parts) that healers do have the easier time when the DPS and Tank are doing their jobs correctly. Its like getting assigned a group project and the healer chose the easiest task of em all and claims they are done while the other 3 are working hard, what happens in these situations in school? You get assigned part of the other peoples work and if they can, they also share in your task if need be. The DPS doesn't HAVE to raise someone should they go down (as a SMN, possibly RDM) or help your MP fill back up (BRD/MCH), the tank doesn't have to use Clemency or other self healing tools, but they can and do.

Now of course, will be people who disagree and I am not saying all groups follow this. Focusing on my main point again, if all parties are doing their share, you can toss in a dot/holy/gravity/(insert SCH skills cus I dont play one) to help the team reach the goal. If you're new, sure no pressure or if there is no time cus of massive pulls, that's all good too. However, if all is going well and I see you jumping around doing nothing, you can bet I am asking my FC for a replacement.

Yes..it really is that big of an issue for some people which is quite..sad.

It's not sad to hope for people to start doing what they are supposed to do, which is using their skills and toolkit to their fullest instead of slacking and getting carried.

What's sad is people who make the apology of a lazy and egoistic attitude. It's like putting mediocrity on a pedestal.
Dragging the community down by staying a dead weight is the sad thing.
