The change to WM was certainly long overdue. I'm very glad that bow mages will no longer be a thing and will be limited to just the 3.x series. I adapted, but it never felt right. It just always felt poorly done so I'm glad they are correcting their mistake.
Question. If WM drains MP and MB drains MP....where do we get more MP? I haven't watched the vid so feel free to correct me, but that's what it sounds like on this thread. In HW WM may give us the awful stand in one place and get shot thing, but at least it didn't suck up the MP.

I'm happy they got rid of WM and GB.
Never thought that they would, but they really did it.

It's possible that the rework of the songs means they no longer consume MP to sing. Sadly, they didn't really talk about Bard at all, so we don't know pretty much any details about how it will play in Stormblood (besides no more cast bars) yet. The job skill showcase definitely shows that the songs have been reworked to some extent, though (they all seem to affect hostile targets), and they all have a HUD display, so we'll see!Question. Not sure how to feel about this considering I am used to 3.0 play now and much like having viable and considerable burst damage. The transition back to hitting with paltry damage in exchange for being able to move(unnecessary?) freely seems a little bit of a scary and sad thought, but oh well, it has always been my main class and I will play it regardless either way.
But.... Paean is a wonderful skill. A little niche in it's usage at times, but otherwise wonderful.
Bittersweet, not lookong forward to adjusting playstyle AGAIN, but at the same time happy no more casts.
Indeed. This is the XIV devs we're talking about. I (half-jokingly) expect a significant nerf to BRD damage output in exchange for no longer being a bow mage again. Then when it goes live and a bunch of people complain after max level is commonly hit, they'll slowly buff it to decent numbers, over a series of patches. If they aren't terrible about balance in the initial patch, it isn't the normal team lol.
Glad to see they got rid of just about all the "bugbears" - Wm, GB, eno. The general ideas behind them were sound enough BUT they didn't seem to take into consideration how much more complicated they were making the mechanics, turning a lot of it into an exercise in frustration. Nice to see cleric changed as well. I still have no idea what I might main come SB seeing a lot of the things that put me off some jobs are now gone. It should be fun deciding, though.
And here I was hoping we'd end up going to a softer stance-dancing duality between, say, shortbow and longbow styles, wherein we could swing towards increased haste or monstrous numbers, where Straighter Shot could be a highlight factor in determining when to swap. RIP actually having to stance your shots despite using massive bows with presumably very high draw weights.This. Usually by the time I get back around to using it after making sure all my other dots are up and bloodletter procs are dealt with its time to rebuff dots and I nearly forget to reapply Straight Shot (unless of course it proc'd)... Hopefully this wont be the case anymore since we wont have to "cast" stuff.
