A Needless Indulgence, or a Lost Opportunity? (Devs?)

Anonymoose, as many people have said, Ifrit fight is mostly pure player skill. Gear just makes things easier. Hell, my gear sucks but I hold my own in the fight. It's when people don't dodge Iffy's attacks and start dropping like flies that there's a problem.

And yes, let's all blame server lag. >.>

See, I believe you, but I haven't really been any evidence of people in Vintage/Darkhold gear getting it done out of pure skill and proclaiming anything about it (at least not in a group majority form. I've heard a few times about "This one guy" or "One of our mages the other night" etc.) - and thus the stigma remains. In fact, I do believe BG tried very hard to get it done the night it came out in their old gear and couldn't manage - proclaiming that they were SURE there was a gearcheck in place. (I'm sure there's not a materia or GTFO check, but I'm also pretty sure if BG can't get it done in Darkhold gear, it's about more than skill). It's hard to make a contradictory claim not having beaten the fight against the people who have.

And server lag was a huge issue in the Darkhold, I'd believe that it's messing with Ifrit.
