Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

I don't really have any huge problems with Viera, but at this point, the playerbase is practically foaming at the mouth to have them added to the game, despite the fact there have been many statements made indicating they have no desire to add Viera at this time.

The way players can behave when someone says they don't want Viera added is pretty unfortunate as well.

For some reason it really seems like folks are either love or hate with the idea of Viera. Each side has it's arguments but each side also has it's vitrol. I always see how Viera supporters are foaming at the mouth and ready to riot and yet I also see us getting a lot of angry condescension. I'm also not demanding them at this time, I'm politely supporting their future addition. It would actually be silly to see them in 4.0 as anything other than a Yugiri style introduction (even that might be pushing it just a bit). For 5.0 and beyond though I'd like them considered.

I'm looking through my post you quoted and I'm not seeing what you apparently saw. I never claimed we weren't going to Rabanastre. I implied that with 5.0 most likely being in Islabard, we would have seen Viera by now (and 4.0 is the last chance for us to see them mixed in within Garlean troops. With some Viera being known wanderers, it's difficult to not believe that some may have been captured and indoctrinated). If we don't see them in 4.0 and 5.0, then 6.0 is the most likely chance of ever seeing them potentially being a playable race. "New World" new lore.

And that's assuming the Garleans don't outright exterminate them because they think they're Beastmen or something.

I'll admit i can have been baited and become over passionate about this specifically because of the amount of derision and out right vitriol of the opposition. Time and agian i have asked, "Why would it be so wrong/ offensive for them to be added? What does their implantation illicit such resistance? They are a race found in an FF title and one wanted by many for a very long time (since FFXI). Why would anyone who does not want them, go so out of their way to argue against them when their addition would have no bearing on them?"

The dev. team, looking at the race poll went with the more beastly race, even went as so far to to draw up amazing concept art featured here countless times.

The art team feels this is "Beastly", the AuRa we got is the culmination of all that art. This is the FFXIV answer to a savage race of monstrous peoples

One need only look the how far into the assets subject mater was brought to full realization to see which was more viable, which was more in line to fit the theme/ aesthetic, of the game world.
(Same Viera Concept art featured countless times, depicting more fleshed out deigns to include hair and clothing.)

Even to the point of creating in my opinion a child variant to launch beside them.

When these points are brought up the flood gates open "this would be boring, more of the same, not beastly enough, make a sub option of an existing race, just add gear to existing race to get the same-ish look..." Derisive opinion weakly passed as "counter discussion" in a support thread. There is nothing wrong with the argument "I don't want them because i want something completely different." However i fail to see how their (Viera) implementation, adversely affects anyone. Yes it is only a minutely subtle difference to what we currently have but that subtlety is something i and many long time FF fans enjoy. I don't see anything wrong. Other games give those player race options, other games have that aesthetic, those other games are not FFXIV, that's why i pay a subscription to this game.

My problem is that to release Viera next would, in my opinion, only lend further credence to the idea that devs only care about one particular type of player: those who prefer their petitie, kawaii part-animal waifus/husbandos.

We already have Miqo'te. We already have Au Ra. Why can't we just get something different for now?

I play a roe because I'm a fan of strong, statuesque, imposing characters. I imagine people who play Lalas do so because they worship Satan like funny, adorable, tiny races. Where are our options? We just have to wait another 6 years and hope for the best? Why does one type of player get to have multiple options while we're left over here in our corner. twiddling our thumbs, messing with our one and only option we've had since day one?

Let someone else get a turn. If they wanna add Viera later on, go for it, but at least try and acknowledge the are plenty of people who aren't a fan of those types of characters.

I mentioned this before, but WoW did it right. If you wanted a sexy fantasy character, you got to choose between Night elf, Blood elf, and Dranei. Want a funny, small character? Dwarf, Gnome, or Goblin. Want your characters built like a truck? Orc, Troll, and Tauren. there were multiple options for everyone.

And that's all I want: options. If you want a hyur with animal bits attached, you already have options. All I'm asking is for the same privilege .

Well that's partly why I'm saying 6.0 is the most likely time (new world, new lore... unless the Garleans are everywhere). Before then could be hybrid races.

Me too! I've tested out most of the other races (except Lalafell and Miqo'te oddly enough) but I'll be back to Rog for the MSQ in SB. It still causes my FC mates to double take that I'm not a rog. I'm here supporting a Viera that's tall and muscular like a Rog but doesn't sacrifice all her curves to do it, bring unto me my statuesque amazon with a twitchy nose. That said others are here supporting the adorable tiny version. A few folks have suggested the double dip, have one Viera clan be the tall and imposing ones while the other clan is more like a bunch of bunny lalafells.

I am all for another buff race and if you've got a suggestion for it I'd likely support it. As I said somewhere else in the thread I like diversity, the more races the merrier.

No way am I gonna read all 1000 post, at this point I don't think they should be added. However I think it would be funny as did add them but called them something else....i don't know...bunny McBunny face would be awesome.

I don't care what they end up calling viera, as long as it looks similar to the concept art they presented. I'm ok with the viera having normal human hands and feet though.
