the 50s was a chore, mostly, there was some neat tataru things for change of pace but other that that, zzzzzz
Shakespeare and Tolkien are more my speed, thanks.

I'm not surprised you misinterpreted my meaning. I did not pronounce my own judgement of the quality, I merely pointed out that not liking it doesn't mean that it is bad, which is an all too common mistake. I don't care for any number of high quality TV shows that exist right now, and I can recognize their quality without thinking that watching them is worth my time.

I'm also not surprised that you responded to a sub-point of mine rather than the main point - namely that the absolutely did add the things in the 2.x series with a vision for the future - this is something I can absolutely back up with evidence against your opinion.

Also, really? One of the few bits of 2.x that is actually legitimate filler (you go and do stuff and then end up right where you started and you can remove it without it impacting things that come after), the Tataru stuff, are the things you find interesting? So, what, you want to trim down the plot relevant stuff and leave the actual filler untouched?

As for first-time players, it's all completely new content for them. Why would they want to skip past that to begin with? FFXIV is a heavily story-driven MMO, if they just want some nonsensical crap with no plot and just pressing buttons for loot, then they might as well just go play WoW.
2 relics for Ama, crafting max on both, gathering soon. (54 in all 3) [also inventory space is too small] I want a chr detected to crafting while the other is to battle but with the GATING!!! I can't achieve this. I need be good in battle it means less space in crafting its... frustrating....

Ama is a 60 smn and sch, SMN is i270 sotra bis (not all out but more then most I guess) But point is I put time Ama in different things, crafting all 60, 3 gather 54 atm, and even then.. I find those 50 quests a pita. They held me back for 2 weeks or more, gating me from HW. It should not be like that. I had lv 60 and a 255 weapon and I couldn't get scripts and such (well I could in limited amount) and still found the 50 quests too much, drag on and boring. Maybe it was fine at 50 when you only got 2 new quests every 4 months or whatever, but now those tedious quests shouldn't be gating content. I shouldn't have to spend 2 weeks on mindless quests just so I could gear my 60 jobs.

A>B>A>C>B>A>C all the stuff added was choppy, it did not flow, there was no quality whatsoever. Having you teleport like that makes you feel disjointed and less emotionally involved with the story. The saddest part to the build up (I am shocked people are shocked about the Nanamo Ul Namo drama because it was foreshadowed) and it was pretty decent regardless if it was predicable. What I found degrading on the story, with all that time to build up, they rushed you to HW because of writing themselves in a corner of the concept "no one is allowed there" There is no quality in the 50 quests, it was choppy, and the whole idea of everyone feel the need to sacrifice themselves was grown worthy.

HW was way better though, 2.xx stuff was done without a plan. It was just add this just add that instead of having a full picture plan. It really shows in the sloppiness when HW started(or 2.xx ended) whatever ya pov is. Actually being in hw+ quests where way better done.

When I sit here asking or suggesting to SE take a second look at those 50 quests or simply do not gate people out of HW because of them, it is because I want to look out for new players or new alts. Those quests are not enjoyable and a huge time sink and very tedious. FFXI did not even lock out stuff like this, it was parallel. (Not doing RoZ did not gate you from CoP, etc) So I am asking for it to be changed more in line of FFXI, things should not be this gated, esp going into a level 70 cap game now. What about 80? 90? are you just going to tell people buy jump potions or do these mind numbing quests? I do not think I would be inclined joining the game in later stages as a new player unless it was to play with someone I knew. It is very unwelcoming to new people at that point.

Telling people "deal with it because I did" is not going to being in new people well. You need to accept people do not care for story and should be accommodating of thier style. I do not want to be in a dead game later on because the game increasingly becomes unwelcoming to new players. Telling me to "deal with it and do the quests" is not going to go very far since I have, twice, completed the full MSQ to be ready for SB on two accounts. I did not mind doing the HW quests twice even though they where done for the first time more recently then compared to the 50 ones. I almost rage quit my alt going though the 50 ones because I was like "when will this ENNNNNNNNNNND, it is never ending ugh" If I reacted like this, how you think a new player would react that does not play online MNOs for the story?

SB might keep that concept and even if not, and HW already dropped some of the pre requirements on recipes, it never hurts to make more money and in some cases even run the whole market, depending on the item and the demand of course, without having to rely on others.
I met a crafting alt getting a wind current that I was getting as well, that was a rival of mine, really awkward and funny at the same time. Who knew 2 crafting alts be in the same place at the same time getting a wind current? For those wondering how I knew who the person was, if you are serous crafter, you learn people's habits, how they undercut, when they undercut, what they craft and how they list things.
