A consern about space efficieny since stormblood is not getting enough space increase

Actually, has anyone considered making a second account using the free trial now that it's becoming unlimited to use as storage mules?

You dont even need the free trial for alts if you pay the higher price. I am able to create more than enough alts but managing your inventory through alts is quite annoying. First you have to go through parts of the story again and have to get to 15 (?) or something to even get the retainers. After that you need someone or the FC chest to exchange your items since its not possible to befriend your Alt and thus you cant sent them post.

If you need another person to exchange the items this makes it really not convenient enough. Either because that person is not on when you need the items from your alt or its just way to slow in general. Maybe this could be something for items that you rarely need.

I for example own a personal FC. There is only a rl friend in it and my alt character. To have her in the FC I needed another person that invited me when I was on that alt character. It is a lot easier to exchange items since you can just put those items in the FC chest but its still annoying since you need to write down what the Alt has and you need to relog a lot.

So yes theoretically one could use an alt as storage mules but we should not need to go the extra way just to store all these things. Also glamour items which do take up a lot of my space (one whole retainer for it), housing items from events and other personal items are not exchangeable. So the problem with them still remains.

Ya it is a pain, and you can use a normal fc to "mail" stuff to you but it takes time.. and does not help that the fc chest has a long loading time.

It shouldn't and as I explain, alts is a huge time sink anyway, so much so I stopped doing it. You can only trade 5 items at a time and now you are effectively doubling the time you spent looking in retainers unless you can effectively lower materiel use to 200 (my inventory and alt) but then you are going to have a few spaces used for currency you are about to use, so on so ofc you need some materials on retainers. So pulling from retainer + dealing with 5 item trades is just too much of an unnecessary time sink. Sure I put up with it for bigger profit margins on 1-2 mil sales but 200-400k (current 4 star gear and weapons now) it is simply not worth dealing with, at that price.

As Ama said it shouldnt, but at least right now its the only way to really trade with you alt characters. Also my answer was more to show that you theoretically can do it but thats its quite time consuming and annoying.

I meant to say "It just might be imagery" because how not doing expanded makes it appear to be 25 spots or whatever.

While I know it's not the main point, I have collected enough key items at once to clarify how part of this works, or at least how it's displayed. Normally, when you have 25 or fewer key items, the (non-expanded) Key Items window only shows one tab, like this:



But as soon as you get a 26th Key Item, it automatically adds a second tab to that window:



I've never actually gotten beyond 50 key items to see it add a third tab, but presumably it could if it needed to. So the non-expanded inventory could show as many key items as the expanded display.

But the display doesn't prove how it works behind the scenes. For all we know, the Key Items inventory might not even have a fixed size or any "slots" per se. The display of it seems to just get as big as it needs to be to show whatever key items you have.

I never got to 25 so I had no idea it did that. regardless I still think the empty space transfer is not true it would not make sense. But all this theory crafting is off the point of the thread XD

Upvoted. All i had on my mind. SE really doesn't know what QoL is the more important to fix but they clearly should make a whole patch about storage revamp. And that key item talb really need some revamp, most useless thing ever, such waste of free storage space.
