Lalafell players deserve their own sub-forum

When was the last time someone ever threatened to eat you? Or burn you? Or just told you to "go back on the firepit"? When was the last time you were told Elezen "aren't people"? That's the kind of crap lalafell players have to deal with far too often on a lot of servers.

That being said though, it's nowhere near as prevalent on EU servers compared to NA servers, and that's mainly because EU players are much better at understanding the difference between lighthearted racial humor and flat-out hate speech. That's actually the number one reason why I left Balmung: because of all the hate-mongering against lalafells and lalafell players.

Yes, every race has one thing or another to be made fun of, and normally I try to avoid them. But when you get a conversation that starts with someone looking at your character, saying they'd eat you or burn you, and your response of "you'd do that to a person?" is quickly met with "it's fine, lalas aren't people".....do you really think that would happen with someone playing any other race?

And that never happened to you on a EU server? I threaten to turn my fellow italian lala friend into lalasagne all the time. He calls me giraffe and "spider legs" and all these things.
Its just dumb jokes. None of these examples you've given seem really bad to me. To compare that with racism is a little over the top. Also,if someone starts a conversation with you like that...you could always...you know...ignore that person and not reply?
See it as a preventive filter for people you dont wanna hang around with.

There's a difference between petty jokes and the ones that Kazrah described. The ones you're talking about are deliberately used in an ironic sense which pokes fun at how bad the jokes are. Whereas Kazrah's examples borders on hate speech, and from my experience on NA there are also examples of clearcut genocidal statements as well. How is that ever considered lighthearted humour? Even if a portion of the player base don't take these jokes seriously, there are still others who simply don't want to be blasted with these comments for a cosmetic option they picked at the beginning of the game. Which, I might add, compared to the price of a hairstyle switch, this requires the purchase of a fantasia to change instead.

Also, why should we ignore the people who do this? Why? Why should the player be the one to tuck tail and run away for something that is completely uncalled for? All that innocent player did was select a cosmetic option that he/she liked. If I could compare this with something else, it's like blacklisting a gilseller for spamming the chat when it shouldn't even be happening at all. It's just sweeping the problem under the rug which allows it to resurface again at another time.
And as for lalafells being racist? Only the opposite. The formation of lalafell cliques and events acts as a -response- to the attitudes of other players, which is quite depressing if you think about it. It's got to the point where the hate on different aesthetic choices led to the creation of these communities. Where the only place they'd be free of the extremities are with others who also chose the same aesthetic choice. Furthermore, the whole 'lalafell master-race' thing? That is just a ruse and acts as a defense mechanism against such comments. Which is also quite sad, since it leads to a cycle where emphasising 'racial superiority' also leads onto more lalafell hate. Instead, it should be completely ended by both sides.

I've heard lighthearted jokes on EU servers, but that's the full extent of it. Nothing anywhere near the vitriol experienced on NA servers, which isn't really a perspective I'd expect you'd fully understand since you're neither a Lalafell player nor are you on an NA server. BTW, when I tried to ignore it on Balmung and a couple other NA servers, there were days where I had to disable almost every single one of my chat channels to do it.

We do that. It doesn't work, usually because it either goes over their heads or it leads to some Hitler reference.

Oh, that's because they're trying to convert you.

Also, I've also seen Linkshells for almost every race group, even Elezen. Just have to know where to look. The only reason why it seems so prominent for Lalafell players is so that we can ignore those racist comments.
