As a new player, I really don't want jump potions.

I kinda know that jump potions are pretty much confirmed, even then, I just wanted to chip in my opinion as a new player.

I love taking my time leveling. I'm sure, that theres ALOT of players out there that are like me, that just wanna experience the game to its fullest, not just raiding. If you implement jump potions for new players, alot of people would skip everything and then players like me would never get to experience the game 1-50 since no one would run low level dungs or MS dungs. The starting areas would be empty, the game wouldn't be alive, just single player. Then it feels like i'm FORCED to buy jump potions as well, or mindlessly level 1-50 single player mode. Right now, i'm really enjoying the game, theres people who put up with me trying to 100% every dungeon, I tell them i'm new, its fine. they say i suck, its fine! Theres still people in the starting areas, thats great! I feel like the world i'm in is alive. If everywhere was empty, it would suck tbh.

Jump potions aren't bad, but can be implemented better. And this takes alot more work from the devs.

Jump potions, sure, let the vets have it, make some requirements for it like "lvl 60 healer, tank and dps" then you can buy the job jump potion, or if you have a character like that on the same account, then you can buy the job jump+story jump on your alts. These vets have had their fun exploring the world already, they don't need to grind through it again, but for new players, THE FIRST TIME IS THE BEST EXPERIENCE, so please SE, don't rob them of their first time.

Of course, it gets daunting for new players, so what if instead of jump potions for new players, you could level 1-50 in a week, playing at 2-3 hours a day which is how long people normally play. (just ~12 hours of playtime) and another (~6 hours) for 50-60. Make it so that the MSQs give ALOT of exp so that new players can level with just the MSQ without doing so many side quests experience it too, while giving them good gear or weapons at set levels from the MSQ (10, 20, 30 etc). I think if you were a brand new player, you wouldn't mind this amount of game time to catch up.

Player skill dropping? It would be nice if SE implements more tutorials for players, ranging to even very difficult ones to clear. Honestly Hall of the Novice is awesome when i first played it, but too basic for harder content. Make a more advanced version ranging from things like "Keep DoTs up, they do alot of dmg!" to "Use a damage buff before DoTs for max potency!" or class specific ones like "blood of the dragon is good, keep it up!" to "keep BoTD up while doing x y z, and use geirskogul while you're at it" these can be really hard, as long as they have good rewards, people will try them, and try their best to finish them.

Your friend wants to start stormblood? What if, the mentor system was better? What if you could be your friend's mentor, and sync down to his level, instant teleport to him, and have buffs like 20% exp if you party together. And then maybe as his mentor, you can "share" is MSQ and help him do it, while getting rewarded for it too with good exp on your alts. Remember that MSQ would give alot of exp, so its well worth it for your alts. And then at the end, when your student reaches 60, he chooses whether to give you the crown. From what i understand, the crown now is just glamour, so make it so that depending on how many students reach 60, you get the crown. Like 1 for a bronze crown, 5 for silver etc. Ofc your friend will award you the crown, but i'm sure anyone would do too if you really helped them through 1-60. Then thats where the glamour of the crown is really legit, you see that gold crown guy, hes a boss, he helped 10 people to 60 holy shit i wanna be a mentor too.

Does it shorten game life? No. Because even new players can only go MSQ once, so they get this very quick boost for their first class, and the others they can level with different methods. (they can make side quests etc give better exp too, but just like 20% increase, so its faster but not that fast)

Streamer? no problem, 1 day to get to 60 to start of stormblood, easily done in the early access time, especially since streamers usually play alot more than regular people.

tldr; there are ways to give players their first great mmo experience and memories through the story, while keeping them up to pace with current players, without resorting to clear jump potions. other problems like low skill floor can be addressed with tutorials. DON'T ROB NEW PLAYERS OF THEIR FIRST TIME! THE FIRST TIME ALWAYS FEELS THE BEST!

It already is empty, everyone's shacked up in PotD.

Also, you can bypass the character limit by editing.

I still run low level dungeons. I know quite a few others do too. As long as there is still level roulette you're not going to have to worry about not having dungeon help. You'll have to worry about not completing older raids without putting together a specific party, but glamor is pretty good incentive. Unless you're on a jam pack server the world may always feel a little empty (I'm on a lower pop world but I still manage to run into folks in any given zone I'm in and usually it's someone who's gathering, chasing down a hunt, and very rarely looking for the perfect picture spot). The only person who will make you use a jump potion is you. While I'm not entirely pro potion myself I can see why they're getting implemented.

I don't think this is gonna be an issue because the game gives higher level players incentives to do lower level dungeons and trials through roulettes.

You do not have to buy them and as others said, roulettes are a thing, and having quests on top of that, like doing leveling 3 times a week to get 18 clusters (relic item, need 50 for that stage)

Jump potions still won't change things, you don't have to look far either. I'm sure everyone has seen some "tank" that leveled through PoTD and are garbage tier at level 60 with their Badjali or Kinn-NAH weapon.

At the point I think jump potions would be best for the game I also believe they should come with your purchase, like has been done in WoW. SE can make money off others I guess, but for example 5.0 will be SO MUCH content to get through that you wont see your friend in your content level for like 3 months lol. So when your friend buys the expansion they get a free potion (one, for one job only - and not a DoL/DoH).

Would also caution the use on crafters/gathers when using a mogshop version because as is they already have the profession system promoting multiple characters, with the potions it would be an approaching middle finger to those not wanting to go make a an alt and spend the cash to instantly boost their crafters to level 90. SE would make money if they had DoL/DoH potions.. but eh feels more dirty to me lol, unless they make the leveling even faster than it already is "crafts grass boots" - gains 20 levels.

As for learning perhaps they can add a really cool synopsis intro while installing, depending on duration can do a nice short intro on job options, and then part of the potion that isn't skipped is perhaps some quick /and/ fun tutorials with the last portion giving you a direction to head (work goes into making them fun lol). That way it won't be so bad when someone gets tossed forward, it still wont be perfect but its better than like "HERE IS 25 ABILITIES, HAVE FUN".

At some point unless there is massive rework on the main story I don't think "not" having them is an option, just to make sure people want to join in at later expansions. Although I understand the concern, PotD gives us a slight taste of what it would do lol. (Hence not throwing them at a wall 500 mph is good, a fun tutorial that hooks them into the game and at least adds a mattress against the wall would be nice).

Don't like jump potions, then don't buy them. Simple as that. Let others who want to catch up on story and leveling have a chance at jump potions. Not everyone has the time or patience to grind through MSQ and leveling by playing 2-3 hours a day. Support jump potions and support SE!
