Pretty sure the only reason they had PLD instead of DRK is because they had Clemency. Goofball, edge-case comp possibilities should never be what you measure viability/balance against (unless the "goofball" comp ends up being the defacto standard/meta)

Now to make the same thing possible with full healer and DPS parties.

Definitely impossible without any tank to soak the damage. The closest you'd get to a full dps party would be 6 dps 1 heal 1 tank (was done long time ago before echo). As for near full heal party, probably 6 heal 2 tank would work. Without melee LB and nin aggro control solo tank would likely be impossible.
