I'm a MCH main, so I'm still trying to remind myself while I'm on the MNK to LB. Though from my experience there are some cases where you should hold onto the LB for a short while or a ranged/caster one is more optimal for the situation. I've seen quite a few wipes in Dun Scaith because someone went trigger-happy on the LB3.
In most cases it's safe to LB whenever it comes up. I'd just keep in mind the party composition and what's going on at the time. As a MNK, if I'm using LB3, I need to do it right after I refresh my GL stacks or I'll lose them. Unless that LB3 is gonna finish the boss off, I try to refresh my stacks first. That takes all of 6 seconds to do at most. I won't get upset or bothered if someone else, melee or otherwise, jumps on the LB before then, though.
Just wanted to put that out there.
Speed runners in PotD taking it to a whole new level.
Three of them sitting on a Cairn of Passage... that wasn't even activated yet.
Just for context, there were mobs that they could of been killing in the next room. I came in from clearing out the other direction, solo.
Tbf, one of them moved into action a few seconds after I stood there and said "wow, really", but that was still two people short of acceptable. So I started to dance. Then they moved.
Too little, too late. I just had to bail right there and then as it was only the second floor into the section and I didn't like the thought of having to supervise them the entire run to make sure they were helping to kill at least the bare minimum to active the cairn of passage. I'll take a 30 min penalty over boosting such blatantly lazy people.
Let's compare and contrast, shall we? Two Leveling Roulettes I ran, both as DRK.
1. Dzemael Darkhold, with a newbie SMN. Party stops to let me explain mechanics to the newbie, doesn't pull mobs or bosses after I ask them not to, and newbie actually listens to my advice and follows basic instructions correctly.
2. Sastasha, with both newbie DPS. LNC keeps pulling mobs and bosses even after I ask them to wait for me to explain mechanics, refuses to listen to any of my advice, can't be bothered to wait for simple explanations, and refuses to communicate at all.
See, runs like the second one are what make people want to leave. When newbies refuse to listen, and actively work to make your job more difficult. When you're in that position, at some point, you realise that you're just carrying someone who's going to go on to other dungeons and parties to make even more people miserable. And that's when you start feeling like the vote dismiss is an excellent function. People who play this game only to make others angry, don't deserve to progess further.
I'd like to think a monk with weakness (That elixir field mass crit on the pull before was a mistake, ok? The big worms were not happy with me.) pulling aggro is a good indicator to change from Deliverance into Defiance. But what do I know, I'm not a tank main.
This run I also found out that Deadly Thrust is indeed worth its name on a DPS. 24k out of my 23k monk HP with Foresight on.
And I guess I'll add another thing to the list of usable caster LBs (outside organized raid content) people have been making. LB a group of either Calca or Brina at the end of Antitower. Kills instantly. Don't know how efficient it is, but man is it satisfying.
Just had a cool Tam-Tara NM run where I tried to practice WHM & DPSing.
Had a very friendly tank who decided to pull a group because he didn't like me DPSing at all (I could tell since he wasn't pulling so much before until then) but you know, instead of telling me in chat, just be passive aggressive about it. Then he turns around to face me and quits. I mean, did the low level gear not clue him that this is a job I'm still levelling & practicing with? So, you all get mad at healers for not DPSing, but then you all get mad when healers do? Make up your damn minds.
Well, whatever, a very silly incident but it makes me wonder if I want to continue levelling up this job.
Honestly. .. don't let idiots on either side of the fence sway your enjoyment. Healing can be a very fun job and most normal people appreciate healers that dps, and good on you for doing so! I am an advocate of dpsing, and encourage healers to dps (especially in fights with low healing requirements). So don't give up because of one passive aggressive poop head who likes dungeons to take longerJust had a cool Tam-Tara NM run where I tried to practice WHM & DPSing.

Sure! I'm down!Same for anyone else interested in getting together to do content. Guess I should maybe put a link to my discord or something in my sig so we can all try to communicate a bit better. (Why doesn't this forum have a DM system?)
Want to apologize to the people I got in Garuda Story Mode earlier. I rolled it as my Leveling Roulette today, explained basics to the new people. However, it's my fault the rocks kept getting destroyed because about half way through the first pull, a huge spider started croawling across my computer so I sort of freaked out a little bit there. :c I'm sorry guys!!
And I second what bardaboo said. Don't let butt-tanks discourage you from DPSing while you're rolling a healer.

I feel like I've had that happen a few times too lol. They'll pull one little set and just sit there, so I'll start to help and they'll pull a ton more... and I'm just like... Ok...Just had a cool Tam-Tara NM run where I tried to practice WHM & DPSing.

If I'm on MCH in Antitower, I like to use it after the dolls all become Calcabrina, really satisfying if I can line it up to hit both people and the boss in the second doll house.
