Bots are a serious issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.

This needs to be fixed. It's hurting the gatherer economy badly right now. It's why omnigatherer isn't really profitable while omnicrafters make millions.

While bots are a problem, they aren't remotely the reason gatherers make less than crafters, considering their only real effect on the market is keeping the price of shards low. Gatherers make less than crafters because: 1. most crafters are also gatherers 2. most items use very few gathered items to make, and most importantly 3. There's an infinite supply of items

Just to hijack the thread away from its intended subject, has anyone else been seeing shout bots somehow getting around the blacklist? I've seen a few spammers in the last couple days that, when I go to bl them, it returns with a "no character by that name could be found" response, yet a few minutes later there's another shout by the same character. I wanted to believe they were just getting banned before the bl went through, but it seems more like they've found some way around it so it gets harder to ignore them.

Sounds like they're logging out and perhaps even fully deleting the character as soon as a shout or two is done.
Because then they could make another character by the same name, which is a lot easier to automate than it is getting a new name each time (by a small degree, I'd imagine).
