This is my horror story.
Now besides this common horror story, I do have one short one I wish to share which ended up pretty sweetly. I queued for a level 50 roulette as a Scholar and got Wanderer's Palace HM. Dark Knight tank. Keeps losing agro to everything and did not use Darkside. I ask him to use it as it will help generate agro and some essential skills are locked behind that skill. He tells me he wishes to play how he wants to which I reply that I could stop DPSing as I play how I want, or stop healing altogether as I can play how I want as to demonstrate that you at least need to put in some effort and playing how you want isn't going to cut it. Another DPS chimes in asking me to just play and that he agrees with the tank. Very frustrated I just continued the dungeon where the tank was still not using Darkside, still losing agro and not even using cooldowns. I ask him if he at least wants to use cooldowns. He just pulls more and does the same shit job. The final boss was an absolute nightmare due to badly positioned boss. He took insane amounts of damage, but I healed through nonetheless. Afterward, the DPS who said he should play how he wants confessed something. He said the tank was absolute shit and that he only agreed with him because he couldn't be arsed with a tank leaving and having to requeue. He gave the tank quite a mouthful.
It was glorious.

Woops. Looks like I know what pet to use on dungeons runs as ACN/SCH...

SCH has completely different pets from ACN (in contrast to 3 for SMN). Selene (Summon 2) has AoE Esuna.

Tbh, that fight is designed so a healer can enter if he/she wishes. You can easily solo heal it since the boss slows down a ton I have done it multiple times myself as a healer. So it was most likely just the straw that broke the camel's back.

So it was quite strange why the main tank fell so quickly after one healer entered...? In the next round the two healers argued a lot whether the other was doing the right job. I guess the truth was one or two of them did not heal enough.

There's a few possible reasons for that. The healer outside may not have been well geared. They may have been unfamiliar with the fight. During that phase there is a tank buster on the tank, and prey on two party members. There's also a sacrament that has to be dodged. So the healer needs to keep regen up on the tank, and the tank needs to be aware of that tankbuster and mitigate it. It's also helpful if they shield and regen the prey on themselves and the other prey target.

If they don't know the fight mechanics, aren't expecting and precasting for any of those things, and/or they or the tank are undergeared, then that'll lead to a tank death.

In my DF yesterday:
Had a Ninja that used no ninjutsu of any kind, no kiss of the wasp/viper, and I honestly dont know how this one is possible but no ninja specific dots were ever put on the mobs. Said Player also kept dying to aoe's on every boss (they literally didnt move ever).

Although what happened to you was absolutely wrong and that dragoon is a complete piece of shit, I question your conclusion of never wanting to heal Dun Scaith again. I'm assuming you have healed Dun Scaith a lot of times and this is the first time something like this has happened (I could be wrong because I don't know your history). After one experience, you are giving up?

We need to, as a community, to discourage this type of behavior and the best way to do that is to stick up for each other. If I was in that group (and I run a parser all the time), I would have spoken up and defended you then made a comment that the dragoon could leave his snarky comments to himself. I've kicked people who have accused the healer for not healing when they have no actual proof (where I can clearly see heals from the parser).

Please don't let idiots like that win. Be brutal if you must and defend good players and kick the idiots instead. This entire thread is (anecdotal) proof that there are a lot of thoughtful players and good players. I challenge every one of you to defend good players when you come across the situation and do it in a respectful, factual way.

Let the baddies come to the forums and complain about their situation and watch people's replies.

i..was that dark knight in your alliance oh my god i feel so bad im so sorry. i hit yes on the dismissal vote because when i looked at your status mid fight id see you 90% in cleric stance and i just had leveling horror memories as a newbie tank of being placed with synced down scholars who never leave CS and have me die in dungeons and because i saw my hp at 10% sometimes after tankbusters. i finally set up a forum account just to apologize

i apologize and i hope i didnt cause too much of hard feelings :+( i honestly have no clue how to gauge healer, or really any non-tank performance being relatively new like...2 and a half months and only maining tank. without parsers its hard to tell even when constantly glancing at aggro bars because of aggro reducing abilities or things like overhealing..

anyway good luck in your future endeavors!

Healers and tanks don't just have one experience, though, that's the thing.

I am nowhere near Dun Scaith yet, and I have plenty of tanking horror stories from that one DPS who just had to berate and heckle me mercilessly. I haven't been kicked yet, but I am sure once I hit the 24 man game, I will...just becase I tank and eventually, a member of the Hate Squad will decide I am their next victim. Not a matter of if, but when. As content gets harder, people get less patient, less helpful and less polite. I am imagine by the time DS rolls around, half the raid is people who are one missed keystroke away from going postal.

I not only understand the healer in this story never wanting to heal Dun Scaith again, I applaud it. If every tank and healer who got treated like garbage and vote kicked for pure nonsense simply quit, then two wonderful things would happen - (1) the player who quits putting up with that stuff severs a source of major AND THANKLESS annoyance out of their lives, and (2) those knucklehead idiots who are so freaking toxic can either do the job themselves or wait in longer queues for a decreasing pool of willing victims. Win-win, imho.

I know this one story has me questioning whether to ever even attempt raid tanking in FF14, because it seems like nothing but sheer misery for way too little reward.
