What the quickest gear I can get to get me through HW MSQ?

Hey there so I'm fresh into HW, just unlocked Thok Ast Thok and I realized... I'm still in Ironworks gear so that's probably outleveled at this point since it's technically lvl50 gear.


What would be my best option? I'd preferably like to just get one set to run through the entire rest of the MSQ but if that's not viable, then what will at least get me quite a ways through without being completely undergeared? I tried asking in game but my server is pretty empty so I didn't get any responses...

Also note I am already level 60 (due to getting to 50 from 2.0 then all the other patches got me to 60)

Ironworks Gear, especially if upgraded to 'Augmented', is probably able to get you until Level 57-ish without problems.
After the Thok Ast Thok quest "Lord of the Hive", you'll unlock Sohm Al, where you can get Lv53 gear.
Before Sohm Al, you can buy Level 52 Gear, "Holy Rainbow ___ of..." in Tailfeather or your local marketboard!

At level 60, you will gain Allagan Tomestones of Scriptures (weekly cap of 900) and Allagan Tomestones of Lore (no weekly cap) when you complete duties and roulettes. When you arrive in Idyllshire, you can use this to buy item level 230 (lore) and 260 (scripture) gear. When you finish the original Heavensward main scenario, you will also be able to unlock more level 60 instances where you can get more gear from. Before that, your best bet is bying level 60 gear from market board. Item level 250 crafted gear is great starting set for level 60 content! For weapon, you can run Palace of the Dead for an item level 235 or even 255 weapon.

There's no point for getting any other than level 60 gear since you're already 60.

The only set that gets you through the whole remaining MSQ (including the new patches) would be ilvl 250 gear. That's available via Alexander (you did not unlock that yet), or via marketboard/crafting yourself. But if you don't have the gil, like Kummaetthew mentioned you would have to go through all the dungeons itself and pick up a piece here and there. However that will stop you right before the end of patch 3. whatever number and I am to lazy to look it up, since the required item level is ilvl 170.

The other thing you could be doing, run a couple of days palace of the dead + daily roulettes and get some lore tome stones, that would give you ilvl 230 gear (can be upgraded to 240 but don't bother) the moment you enter idlshire and would take you all the way to the end of the current patches as well as with adding only a couple of ilvl 260 gear (scripture gear, tomes you gather already on top of your lore and wouldn't have to go somewhere else) would allow you to run expert dungeons later on and the 24 man raids (void ark, wheeping city of mhach, dun scaith) were you could aquire 230 & 260 gear, as well as update material for the 230 to 240 gear and 260 gear to 270 gear. Hence I mentioned above to not bother updating the 230 since the same materials are needed to update 260-270. The weekly lockout on these dungeons have been removed and therefore you can grab as many pieces as RNGesus allows you to get. Bonus you get 1 free 270 accessory every week as well.

That's by far the quickest way, even tho people want to tell you that you should be doing hunts (it's much slower especially if you're on a lower pop server), or you could go the pvp route, however I don't know how much you like pvp and since I don't support bad behavior with people just afk'ing these runs, making it miserable for everybody else, I am not going into detail but you could google it, if you think that's a better option for you.

Hmm I see so my best bet is doing daily roulettes and getting 230 gear with lore? I feel like the 900 per week cap will limit me getting my gear fully in a quick way.(though I don't know how much a full set costs)

I kind of hate POTD so I probably wont do that. Roulette sounds OK though. Thank you all for the advice!

Fastest would be to have a crafter friend with money/materials to blow, but outside of that...

PVP gear is probably the fastest, if you can stomach said PVP. You can go from i150 to i235, high enough to participate in every form of current content. You also get some tomestones to fill in with that gear. If you can't stand it (which would be understandable), just run roulettes and buy gear with tomestones like others have said.

Fastest would be to just do all the sidequests as you go through the game. They'll supply you with regular upgrades to gear for all slots except accessories.

OP said he is already level 60, while that gear would only get him through levelling content.
