Interesting. I've never kited those adds. I'll have to remember that next time I land there.

I had a weird run of Castrum in my MSQ Roulette. Land, DRK says "I'm OT". Okay. I MT, everything goes smooth. Then, we get the pull up to blowing up the lines with the charges. I pull it all like a madman, and Sentinel up (used HG on first pull). I started dropping like a rock. I hit some other cooldowns as it ends, but I end up dying confused, as that pull normally goes fine.

DRK pops Grit as I die, we pick it all back up. But, the DRK won't drop Grit, and is apparently now MT. I guess he wasn't satisfied with my tanking. Okay. I pop Sword and go. At some point, he must have decided he wants OT again, because he dropped Grit and aggro ran amok. I took it back like a good PLD, and kept it forever past that.

We get to the cannons, and I guess there are some serious concerns about how this should be done. I pulled the first group up, they died. I grabbed long hall up to the second cannons and pulled the whole thing up... to see that I was alone. I guess I was supposed to pull them backwards to the first cannons? I HG, and stall with cooldowns until the group realizes I'm not coming back and get up to help me.

Colossus boss. I have only ever seen this tanked one way. Ever. You keep him in the corner, burn small adds as they spawn, ignore the big add. I did just this, and got a "..." from a healer. Oh boy. "Tank Colossus on Cid."

If this is the strat, I have literally never seen it, in any run or video of a run.

Livia, the DRK kept trying to Provoke her in the armor and save our allies from her impotent wrath. If he wasn't synced level 57, I would have laughed.

Apparently tanking colossus on Cid allows Cids aoe to contribute damage to the colossus, or so I've been told. Not sure if this has been confirmed.

I saw something similar to what you're describing in Castrum, except people were leading the adds over there to kill them faster. Not the Collosus.


Short story: was queuing for Mentor this morning (as I've just recently started doing Mentor roulette just for something to do), and got Dzemael with just the healer and a DPS left. I'd queued on BRD, but after waiting a good 5-7 minutes with no tank showing up, I told the two I'd drop and requeue as DRK. Which I did (and was like "lol how to DRK" because it's been too long since I've actually played it).

I can kind of understand why the last tank left though. The healer was using a level 30-ish weapon, left side was Brayflox Battlemage set, and right side was a mixture of jewelry from levels 1-29. I have never pulled so small in my life lol. Because they couldn't keep me up if I tanked larger pulls. It was kind of scary watching my health plummet to 200-300 consistently each pull.

They were trying though, so I still gave them my comm for that. Just hope they followed the advice to get slightly upgraded gear before they decide to do Aurum Vale.

Meh, I said "kite" but really what it amounts to is you standing off to one side and just eating a million sabotender pokes to the face. If your DPS is decent, the boss will be dead a long time before the amount of damage becomes dangerous, even with every single add in the fight glommed on to the heals. But if your DPS is not decent... Well, I hope you are a good healer. XD

This is the easiest way to do this fight, I think, especially if you have melee who will be much more productive just focusing on the boss the whole time instead of chasing adds that do like 100 damage a piece to a geared healer.

Doing AV without artifact armor is a crime against humanity.

I did an AV today with a guy using a lv 35 weapon, no AF, and level 1 earrings. Most of his gear was under level 40. So, yes. I agree. lol

Did a run of Sohm Al Hard.

For the entire run, the healer did not DPS and the bard did not use any songs.

On the last boss, the bard decided to take jabs at the healer for not DPSing. The bard also decided to waste the LB when there was only one of the scorpion adds up.

Thank you to that tank for being awesome. You got my commendation.

Well, I have had DPS complaining about big pulls. The excuse I received was "AoE rotations are boring". Although I kinda agree with that statement (for some classes), other were made for AoE dpsing. Imagine the look that a SMN would give me if I do small pulls. -.-

What was the rest of the party comp? If there were no other casters in the group, or at the very least a NIN, then I can understand why the bard wouldn't play Foe's, since the healer isn't DPSing. It would just be a waste of a song and mana at that point.

Now if there was a caster, BV+Foe's should have been played at every boss, and Foe's at as many trash pulls as possible. If there was a NIN, at least sing non-BV Foe's just because it does help their Raiton.

The party was MNK, BRD, SCH, and PLD. So I'm not mad at no Foe's. But the extra MP for the healer or extra TP would have helped a ton, especially since the last boss was taking a while.
