    You'd think that people would be more apathetic about whether or not this feature is implemented, but I suppose the pseudo-Christian population has edged their way into the gaming community now. Sheesh, first they can't tolerate same-sex marriage in reality and now it's being censored in the cyber community as well? Give me a break. -_-;;

marriage itself isnt flawed, its just often viewed as an actual living being that sits on a throne in the south pole who was molested by a male priest as a child instead of just a human ideal.

marriage is technically and scientifically pointless. its only when human emotions get involved that they conjure the feeling of the need of exclusivity with one other person on an emotional and "spiritual" level. its this idealism here that is flawed in humans because divorce and infidelity are prevalent in both gay and straight relationships.

to keep gaming stress free id say leave marriage out. but if it must be in then i strongly agree with adding gay marriage.
I was just using promiscuity as a springboard, really. Me? I'm morally conservative, though I have no religion per se. As for the rest of that paragraph: You lost me completely. I know you're trying to use a metaphor, but it's not one I'm familiar with.

I agree with you to a degree with what you've stated in your second paragraph. Humans are still animals by nature, and by that nature: Males are driven to plant their seeds in as many recipients as possible. Although, I would think that with the stigma and "standards" for ideal partners that have been implemented via consumerism and pop culture cultivation: A lot of people are left to rot, and their deprived desires are ultimately manifested in...abhorrent ways.

In any case, it's like I've said before: Whether or not there is any emotional investment in the party in question, implementing this feature is purely for role-playing purposes - just like it was in XI, except you have wedding garments and rings to show for it. Ah...the tux was pretty snazzy from what I remember...

You guys are all probably the same people who supported the instant lvl 50 at game start concept. Lets post about good ideas please, not LoL fest ideas like this one. If you want to get married to whatever you want then go play a game without a point like Second Life otherwise please leave Final Fantasy to people who want to quest, experience good story line and kill epic monsters.

"OMG guys I played this badass game today! I GOT MARRIED IN GAME! isn't that so coo!l?" - Ex friends as of 30 seconds ago walk away claiming to have never known you -

This isn't the Bravo channel guys, its Final Fantasy.

I'm sorry, what? I was too busy killing sheep and antelope to pay attention to what you were saying.

Besides, at least I'm coming up with something instead of trolling threads.

What part of, "I will never use the feature," did you not comprehend? It was part of XI and it was tastefully done in that game. It is completely optional for role players and real life couples who want to marry their characters in game too.

If you don't want to partake, then don't do it, just like I won't. However I have a major problem with discrimination, and if SE wants to keep the "straight only" marriage option, that will just be one more stain on XIV's record of them not keeping up with the times. Either allow both or don't allow either.

Given the civil disputes going on in reality: It'd be nice to see at least some good come out of it - regardless of what kind of circumstances the marriage entails.

This issue to me seems as ridiculous as them making a separate market ward for Seeker of the Moon and Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te. If SE isn't bold enough to come right out and state in the lore that these fictional deities in a video game don't approve of fictional homosexual marriages, then they have no grounds to really try the XI crap again. It's nothing but real life cultural and religious influences creeping into a video game that is not a part of either.

I seem to recall Yoshi hinting at them making a comeback along with the option of gay marriages, as well. It was something I was genuinely shocked at and one of the things that made me respect Yoshi.

Most likely because trolling has been kept to a minimum. We shall see what the future holds, though.

    oh about my metaphor.
i just feel extremists act as if marriage is an actual living entity which is being weekend by homosexual kryptonite or something.
durring both california elections on gay marriage in the past few years the right wing kept saying things pertaining to "save marriage" and "marriage is sacred".
i just think "ok so what and where is marriage and why does it need to be protected by the homosexuals?... are they waving pitch forks or something?"
but these things are realistically false. marriage is not a thing. realistically its an ideal that should develop to accommodate its current society. there just isnt any rationality to keep it exclusive to heterosexuals. two men can love eachother exactly equally as a man and a woman. if you see the homosexuals love as less than then that is the only rational reason to keep marriage from them. but as we all know, homosexuals love just like everyone else.

that was just an explanation to my vague analogy above.
