Ever see a whm holy spam, aero3 assize? 3k dps on trash easily.

Yes, I've seen a holy spamming WHM. Great DPS - for a short while, then it's OOMP.

The point was that the poster I was replying to was claiming that a white mage can make upto a 40% difference in the speed of a run by DPSing, I don't just find that doubtful, I find it nigh on impossible, unless the DDs are sandbagging.

did you really just ignore my post quoting you that gave you actual numbers? o.o As for OOM, piety will help sustain quite a bit of mp and if theres decent dps,the packs will be dead before Im oom

As for the exact claim of 40% difference, I dont know, I would have to stop dpsing to compare but I can tell you that many people found it unbelievable in the forums here that many experts can be done in like 13 minutes
because they claim "i can hardly believe it because I have never seen a run faster than 20 minutes"

I run EX with my static mates. We're all BiS. Our dps are SMN and BLM. I have literally complained I only had time for a couple Holys before everything is dead and we're on our way to the next pack. 13 min is pretty standard. My SMN's response to my complaints is always evil laughter. But yeah, my numbers are definitely above your average dps when I'm running heals.

Want to contribute to this healer dps too. Just finished DF run of Sohm HM, it took us about 15mins as well. AST (myself), BLM, DRG, PLD. By the end of the run both BLM and DRG did 1.8mil dmg each. I did 1.3mil so...... I find dpsing as healer a very nice contribution to speed of the run.

i was just in a pvp match, the one where you kill drones (the one without flags) and our group started with only 5 people. Eventually some others join up, though we only have 2 points when they finally show. Except one guy, who instead of joining us in the middle decided to take a detour around the outside of the map? I asked where he was going, with no answer so initiated a kick on him that went through.

Somehow we manage to come in second place, and as soon as I leave I get a whisper from someone I don't know. Turns out the guy we kicked decided to hunt me down and make a character on my server just to confront me. I mean, really? Has this happened to anyone before?

That works out to 36% extra DPS from the healer versus healer doing no DPS at all. That is very close to the 40% claim, which seems to have a ton of merit on the face of it.

I was wondering why stuff was not dying like it should be in this expert I was in and I was watching the SMN since that is my only other job on this chracter and trying to learn it better. The person went to DT then deathflare without doing anything else. So I asked about it and they said something of the lines of I do not care. So I said but it is a DPS loss. They said I do not care. So then I said how about if I just DPS and not heal because I do not care? ( I used their exact line though) they told me do what you want so I wanted kick them for being rude like that and uncooperative. Being premade though ofc it is blocked.

Final boss was killed after 3 waves of adds, that is rare to see now a days. I had to try harder then normal to try get more dps to make off for their loss.

If you are not going to try your best why should I? I do not want to play with people like that.

He didn't mention the PLD's damage, which if they were any good is around the same as the healer's (at roughly 70% of an individual dps's). So the healer does ~20% of the damage total, meaning the 15 min run would have taken 18-19 mins without the healer's dps -- a reduction of 3-4 minutes. Not even close to the 10-15 minute and 40% dps claim.

You also gotta keep in mind guys, it's easier to DPS as healer than it is as a DPS class lol. I see, what, 4/5 spells listed in the WHM DPS toolkit? I consider myself a pretty decent SMN, but I have well over 20 skills/spells I have to use in order to pull off the big numbers, and sometimes that 2 second dodge just completely destroys the whole rotation if I lose stacks because of it (and yet I can't risk eating those AOEs or it'll piss off the same healer that's bragging about their own numbers lol). Same with NIN, Trick Attack itself isn't a great attack, it's the debuff afterward that gives the big boost (and mostly to the rest of the party lol). If they aren't getting their DoTs and buffs and debuffs up before Trick Attack, it's basically a waste for the NIN (but still gives DPS boost to the rest of the party, so it's still worth using).

Not justifying lazy DPS, just pointing out that a lot of players simply will never have the skills necessary to be good at it. Lots genuinely try, but they just don't have what it takes lol. Why do you think DPS are usually the hardest to replace in a raid/static group? Nor am I trying to trivialize what tank/healer does for a group. They have the hardest responsibilities in the group, but the jobs themselves are more technically simple, if that makes any sense.

Edit: Imagine, for a second, if Benediction required a 7 spell combo, with specific regen buffs active, plus 3 stacks of what-ever (that could disappear in 10 seconds if you mess up the next combo). And it took you anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute to accomplish it. Then you get to sit around and wait for the cooldown to end before you could make the attempt to use it again lol.

True enough, but even at 20%, it isn't exactly a rounding error or totally negligible. Do the same grind over and over and every 3-4 minute saving adds up.
