Forcing players to pay to keep housing is unfair.

Some people on this thread behave like hungry piranhas ready to devour anyone who dares complain about the house they lost because they took a small break from the game.
SE is the one you should try to bite not other players. It's SE's fault that you can't find a lot because they screwed badly the code and/or have crap server infrastructure which can't handle
instanced housing like other even F2P games can right now.
People should be able to take a break from the game without losing their digital properties. Period.
SE should implement a feature to check who is taking a break and who left the game for good. This can be done with a mobile app or via the Mog Station. If something happen and I want to take a break let's say 2 months but I want to return after that I should be able to log in to Mog Station and valid check my account so I will be able to keep my house because after the off period I will return. Or they can scrap the timer altogether and demolish houses which are inactive for way longer periods like 1 year or 8 months or so.
They did not deliver with housing. They messed it up pretty badly. A feature that everyone should enjoy ended up a super expensive high end game content for few and even when you get one you are risking to lose it only because something happened to you and you weren't able to play for some weeks. It's bad.
And let's not forget that Yoshida himself encourages breaks from this game. Funny isn't it?

I also never recall them saying they wouldn't implement a demolish system and I suspect you may have misinterpreted it. With the way housing works, you'll inevitably have whole sections where the players quit along ago and have no intention of coming back yet no one can ever occupy the plot. It's wasted resources I cannot see the devs just sitting on. Unless they do adopt a better system where everyone is guaranteed a house, demolition is necessary.

The problem for me is simple: SE created the system. From the very beginning they should have known that there wont be enough for everyone. Especially when they introduced private housing. Its a simple calculation of active players per server and houses per wards.

Yet even though it should have been really obvious that these houses will never be enough they also did not create rules of only one privat and FC house per player/world to prevent twinks from buying them. At the same time they promised us no timers..
We also posted more than enough solutions to the problem and they simply could have created the wards as FC only and make personal instanced houses..

In the end I am not really sure who at SE really thought that this was a good idea? And after all this time..after so much talking about housing and its issues we will still get the same housing in the new 4.0 too..its like they learned nothing..this would have been their chance to solve the problem. But its probably just way easier to punish the player with a timer, while at the same time ignoring that even with a timer of one week we would not have enough houses for people.

You don't wanna pay? There's other people who would pay to have your house. In a world where housing is limited, there is no such thing as fair or unfair for you. As much as I hate the word, entitlement is what I smell from this post.

I'm sorry that money is tight though but the reality is the reality.

Its not a matter of "fairness" its a matter of everyone should have access to housing.

If someone has enough gil to purchase a medium or large house, they shouldnt be excluded for the simple fact "there isnt enough."

If someone puts the time into obtaining a house, they should have it, and keep it. No matter what.

Thats like if they were to only allow the first 100 people to clear raid's to obtain gear, and then if they didnt subscribe for the next month they forfeited their gear to the 101st player. This would not fly at all, so why does housing get a pass?

If housing does come it wont be till around 4.3 as they will use busy balancing raids, classes and waiting for it to fit in with the story.

The SB housing was being held back because it's unlocked during the initial story progression and they want to let people get through it at a reasonable pace vs "SKIP EVERYTHING OR I WONT GET A HOUSE IN 5 MINUTES!" They've already shown off the new housing district and we're supposed to be able to wander it before the ability to purchase housing is opened up some time later.

This is so true, and why I support the Auto-demolition. Although, I do think that as long as your subscription is active (paid up) the autodemolition timer should be 90 days. But, if your sub ends, the timer should be the current one pro-rated by how long is left on that 90 day timer I mentioned, if you went inactive before unsubbing.

Just make sure to log in early once housing will be available ( it won't be at launch of Stormblood) or you will be sol.
This happened last time they added more plots, i had to work and got back home all were gone and have been since then
