    Anyone having issues? I am, and I'm confused

    SOLVED

    **Kaspersky users** please read:

    Ok so I finally found the solution to my problem.

    I noticed I was having issues specifically with FFXIV and its websites.

    So straight to the solution:
    I use Kaspersky, to solve this issue i simply:

    -Open Kaspersky
    -Click on settings icon (cog)
    -Click protection
    -Click Web Anti-Virus
    -Click Advanced Settings
    -Click Configure Trusted URLs
    -Add URLs:
    http://frontier.ffxiv.com
    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com
    http://forum.square-enix.com

    Frontier is for the launcher
    na.final is for the lodestone
    forum.square is obviously the forum.

    After doing this i have no issues.

    I have no clue why kaspersky would have added FFXIV and its associated sites to a blacklist, or whatever would cause them to not work with kaspersky running. Either way its fixed. Would be great if anyone found this and was able to fix their issue faster.


    The issue actually wasnt comcast, it was kaspersky. Still, if anyone wants the reddit page i found, its still here:

    So I tried white listing FFXIV Frontier in internet explorer, but it seems literally my issue is random.

    Anyway here is what is going on...

    When i try to load the FFXIV Launcher:




    When I try to load the FFXIV lodestone/site:



    How the FFXIV forums load...






    If i spam trying to load each article, I can sometimes get it to work properly.

    Like if i spam trying to play XIV, eventually it loads the launcher. If i spam trying to load the lodestone, eventually it loads up and I can access it. If I spam the forums... i'm not sure if i've gotten it to look normal.
    Nope, i just spammed this post, and it popped up looking normal. I have NO clue what is going on lol.

    Every other website I have absolutely no issues with to my knowledge.

    Internet explorer is an obsolete browser being replaced by MS Edge, try edge or chrome. For the FFXIV launcher did you have any power outages or terminated application? could be a corrupted file.

    I white listed Frontier on internet explorer because that's what I heard the FFXIV launcher uses to launch the game.

    The other pictures are via google chrome. Honestly I dont like either, but oh well.



    Corrupted file question:
    Where i live we have power outages all the time, I have a APC battery backup for my PC/TV, and whatever system I have turned on at the time, so this shouldnt have effected it. Also, as mentioned before, its random. Last night i was having issues, white listed the site, and it worked. Now today its not working again. I could keep spamming it i'm sure to get it to work, but its going to get annoying as this is day 3 or so of this issue occurring.

    could it be a port issue? Have you tried disabling your firewall?

    Weird thing is, the day this started happening, (i have windows 10...) is the same day I started getting notifications every single day that "windows defender and your virus protection are not enabled."

    I'm assuming it has something to do with that, but I cannot remember what I did last time i was having this issue.

    I never had issues with windows 7/8, except "please update to windows 10" every single day I turned on my pc until i got windows 10.



    Edit: What doesnt make sense, is like I said, its XIV launcher, XIV website, and XIV forums, but no issues with any other site.

    If the issue is due to Comcasts unreliable dns servers. You could bypass them by adding the following entries to your host file.

    124.150.157.190 frontier.ffxiv.com
    124.150.157.254 na.finalfantasyxiv.com

    Internet Explorer is used by the Launcher. You cannot play without it (to my knowledge), even though it's a terrible mess of a program.
