I get the impression you believe online gaming is populated by upstanding people who are kind, nice and excuse themselves when they flatulate. Suffice to say, that is not the case. This may be a sweeping statement, but in general there are various degrees of asshattery, hidden in every corner of the realm. If the internet is any measure, a large percentage of players enjoy having fun at the expense of others - especially strangers - who, by and large, are too gullible. Would you invite random people to your wedding in real life? Some people get their kicks off the misfortune of others and are doubly emboldened by a measure of anonymity.
Is it fair? No. Let this be a lesson learned...
