Sorry but people do get called away in real life for numerous reasons that are more than 45 days. Don't buy it and those who are desperate for housing need to get over trying to take it away from paying subscribers.
As one of those people who stopped playing (for almost a year) and lost the house I bought before the demo timer was implemented, I understand that fact perfectly well, thank you. I still stand by what I said- in a perfect world, everyone could have a house and there would be no demo timer, but in this world with the system we have, it's fairest to give the houses to people who use them.

on the other hand, as some whos sub has never lapsed and who has played since beta 1.0, the fact that I dont have a house while newer players who drop their subs, more than once do, irks me.
Because someone gets deployed for example isn't a good reason for saying they don't use their house. The earthquake in Japan is another which caused the cessation of the timer. We'll have to disagree on this but I won't change my mind. If someone is paying a sub, they are and should be entitled to keep their house. As one of those people who stopped playing (for almost a year) and lost the house I bought before the demo timer was implemented, I understand that fact perfectly well, thank you. As it stands right now, SE agrees with you. Personally I don't agree with it and I won't change my mind.
If someone drops a sub, that's an entirely different story. I don't disagree with their losing it under those circumstances.
If you aren't even going to bother to use or even ENTER your house once every 45 days, why even have one in the first place? Give your plot to someone who will actually use it if you aren't going to, and get an apartment or FC room if you want a space to decorate once, and then never use again.
This comment just baffles me. Almost as much as the OP's comment about laying in a hospital dying and being concerned about their house made of pixels.
EDIT: Reading the rest of your comments, if you were, by any chance, deployed, why would you even be concerned about a virtual house or MMO in the first place? Wouldn't it make sense to have slightly different priorities in such a situation? If you were called away on extended business for work, I'm sure there would still be at least evening opportunities for you to log in and play a bit (you can't say you would be working all hours of every day while on your business trip; plenty of people find time to log in while in a hotel room.
). If you don't think the 1-2 hours you may get to play a day while away is worth it, then perhaps neither is your virtual house.
Priorities.

have you heard the saying what have you done for me lately 15 bucks is like two meals from whataburger, you speak of fairness but is it fair that you are holding a plot someone else could buy potential giving SE 45 dollars until stormblood while your taking a break and giving them zero so whats fair about that?
