To bypass the 1000 char limit, just edit your post. The current status quo is that Healers are roughly 70-80% heals, and 20-30% indirect heals and/or support spells. For WHM, it has the most focus on heals, with powerful indirect heals via Regen. For SCH, it has its own powerful heals and has indirect healing via shields. AST has a bit of both WHM and SCH, plus the addition of more significant support skills via its card system. Therefore, inverting the status quo would give us a job that deals primarily in indirect heals, with less focus on direct healing spells.
Weve been asking for them to increase and or remove this stupid thing for years, its sort of like signing in and getting the players in queue, then you hit cancel and log in immediately anyway,
Im not saying support isnt possible, but i get this big Shiroe from Log Horizon vibe reading what youre describing
Not that its a bad thing, personally would have liked samurais to be tanks like in that show
There wasn't a limit in the 1.0 forums, it wasnt until the beta for 2.0, when people started making 30 threads about the same pointless stuff that they locked it down, and they havent changed it since.
Not entirely sure what seems Shiroe-like about it. I mean, I guess Shiroe and Log Horizon in general has a lot of pure support, or healers that are heavy on the support, but it's not like the concept is unique to the show. Although I can't say I didn't think a bit about Log Horizon while writing it, it wasn't based on it or anything. If anything, it draws more on my experiences with League of Legends and how huge a difference support can make (and how fun to play they are).
I guess my writing style is a little on the fanciful side. I could see it just reading a bit like the way Shiroe talks.
nothing wrong with that, the LoL reference makes a whole lot of sense though in conjecture to buffing/debuffing. Even in pvp in 14 debuffs that are nigh useless in pve combat seem to reign vastly in pvp ie paladin locking down opponents with shield bash, or tridisaster actually having a use.Not entirely sure what seems Shiroe-like about it. i guess the root of the issue is that balancing it to be useful in both pve and pvp combat would be thebig issue not that it couldnt work
I don't think we'll ever get a real support class in this game, the closer we got is AST but with the RNG we can't really call it support.I LOVE THIS MMO AND I AM NOT BITCHING ABOUT ANYTHING
I was hoping RDM would be a PURE support class where they don;t have many and are low dmg abilities but really are good for large groups with their support auras/buffs, kinda like BRD but just more supporty.
maybe thats just e but I don't have any problems being a BUFF bot. I would think its fun.
Pretty much like debuff class, I don't think SE is interested by that kind of gameplay (plus, ppl are to focused on DPS DPS DPS so a real support class would probably never been accepted in parties)
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
it could be cool to have a job that did low dps and raised group dps quite a lot to make up for that, but it might be difficult to make it fun to play as combat is very repetive and generally the conditions are fairly consistent.
Would it just be like a SMN but instead of loads of DoTs, a load of party buffs?
I agree except I think a support class could be accepted if it provided enough support. AST is popular for raids because of the support, even though scholar and whm both have higher pure dps.I don't think we'll ever get a real support class in this game, the closer we got is AST but with the RNG we can't really call it support.
