Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

I'd be disappointed if they were put into the game as a non-playable race.

I'd prefer looking at official polls myself. I still hope we will get another race poll with viera being its own separate option one day.

Pretty sure Viera were listed on the poll when they were planning to add the 6th race, and that it actually surpassed Au Ra on the polls. Can't say I mind that they added Au Ra since Au Ra seem a better fit for Doma/Othard than Viera would (I could see Viera in maybe Meracydia or the New Continent to the West).

Probably not. The desire for a specific race doesn't go away until its added. Goblins were requested in WoW until they were finally added in Cataclysm. High Elves (for the Alliance) are -still- a highly requested race in WoW to this day, with their forums continually littered with, 'Please add High Elves,' threads that invite several dozen pages of people arguing back and forth.

I'd like to think the FFXIV community is a bit better than the WoW community and could just ignore the thread instead of bumping it with requests of, 'Can this thread just die?' Sure, it'll pop up now and then as passionate players revisit it, but if you don't want Viera, just don't post. It'll go back into the depths of the forums faster.

It was listed as an example for what a Mammalian beast-man race could be. Not what we were going to get. It's cool if people want Viera, but Viera was never an option in that vote, they were an example. Mammalian Beast-man is what was voted for.

Quite true, thank you for the clarification. I'd never seen the poll before and decided to do a look for it for myself. For anyone curious, here's the link: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/46936

At the very bottom of that post is has a little chart with the list. Interestingly, Beastmen as a new race was even on there, but had received very poor scores. The second highest request was Mixed-Heritage races (Half-Hyur, Half-Elezen, for example).

This is why I said I would like another race poll with viera having its own category instead of falling into mammalian beast-man. For clarity's sake, I feel a new poll should be done. However, I do believe Yoshi P's assumption is correct; people voted for a mammalian beast-man race mostly because viera was used as its example.
