Probably not. The desire for a specific race doesn't go away until its added. Goblins were requested in WoW until they were finally added in Cataclysm. High Elves (for the Alliance) are -still- a highly requested race in WoW to this day, with their forums continually littered with, 'Please add High Elves,' threads that invite several dozen pages of people arguing back and forth.

I'd like to think the FFXIV community is a bit better than the WoW community and could just ignore the thread instead of bumping it with requests of, 'Can this thread just die?' Sure, it'll pop up now and then as passionate players revisit it, but if you don't want Viera, just don't post. It'll go back into the depths of the forums faster.

Thread trolls are just like anime tsundere stereotypes, they keep bumping threads for content they don't want.

No, but there is a clear and marked difference between stating a dissenting opinion from that of the thread's intent, and then continuing to state the opinion so that the thread remains on the first page, obtains more views, and continues to garner more posts of assent and dissent, sparking arguments, debates, and so forth. In short, there is a difference between having a different opinion, and trolling to watch people argue because it amuses you.
