Your other complains don't make much sense, because that's the point of Benchmarks, to test Hardware capabilities and it's stability under overclock.

The point is for the player to test their own hardware and for the devs to get a read on how many of their current players will be able to continue playing their game once upgrades kick in. Sure, players can share scores and so on, but those sorts of scores are never intended to be a competition because all it'd be is to see who has the most money to spend on a gaming computer. Nothing more.

Obviously people with the best Hardware and Overclock would be on top, but how does it affect you? The leaderboards would be mainly to bring hardcore overclockers to the Benchmark and from there it would bring people to the game due to the overclockers post the results to forums/youtube etc.

Actually, this sends the wrong message for the game, that you need a computer worth a college degree just to play the game. Of course it doesn't, but potential customers who would glance over those leaderboards probably wouldn't be aware of that fact. If anything, that's something that would give those potential new players one more reason to pause for thought.

I was gonna mention this. There's not much reason for leaderboards because the data has to occupy a server or some sort of public database on SE's part. If people really wanted to compare, they'd do what Masekase has said or they would contact each other via Facebook groups, Whatsapp, etc.

Not everything needs its own little system to be done when it can be done without.

The system seems to max at 3092 for gpu memory in system info for some reason. It shows that on my 6gig 980 TI as well.

I still play on 1080p monitors because im waiting on prices to drop a bit more on the 10bit 4k displays.

Depends on your OS or something else then. My System info lists 18.3 Gig of Vram. Windows 10 64 bit.

EDIT: Have not tried a 4K monitor yet, but going from 1080P to 1440P was amazing. I use an Acer Predator monitor.

That's what I did for Heavensward: tested it only for my machine. It's the fact that a leaderboard is present that it would promote unhealthy competition that wouldn't promote anything other than people who spent a boatload on a computer.

Yup, especially from people who think FPS is a better means of gauging their system than the actual scoring system used for the benchmark.

Why would it be unhealthy competition? By your logic all leaderboards promote unhealthy competitions and promote nothing else than epeen, let's remove PVP and PoTD leaderboards before it's too late!

The problem is that you're looking at previous benchmarks, and previous benchmarks are not real benchmarks, they're far from actual game performance even when HW launched when compared to the actual benchmark.

That's why the SB benchmark (if we even get one) could be a real one to stress test the user system, it would require dozens of toons being displayed and rendered in the benchmark, because previous benchmarks barely have anything going on.

So making it more of a stress test would be great as it would be much more of a real approach to the actual in-game performance, such as 24 Man raids and Cities / S Rank Hunts with 40+ people being displayed at once.

Because the current benchmark is misleading, you get a really nice score, then you go in-game and it's not even close to the Benchmark even if you go to Hinterlands for example.

Example: I play at 1440p, i had two GTX970 in SLI, then upgraded to a single GTX1080, same CPU, in the Benchmark i get 16600~ on the GTX1080, with the 970SLI i got 15800, yet i get much better performance with the GTX1080 in-game (whereas the benchmark only give me about 5% more performance), such as i'd go as low as 35FPS in Limsa and with the GTX1080 i get 42 at worse (and it even has more people there these days)
