Stormblood: Samurai Question about Gear.

so i've overheard that the new Samurai class will be specifically sharing additional abilities with the Monk Job. its the reason why i am trying to level up my Monk before Stormblood.

so in terms of gear, will Monk or Pugilist exclusive gear (mostly armor and jewelry) also be available for Samurai to wear?

for example, i if i get the Ironworks Cuirass of Striking, will i be able to wear this as a Samurai. to me, it would not make sense, assuming that the Samurai's attacks would most likely benefit from Dexterity rather than Strength. however, if it does, then please notify me of this.

if it were the case that a Samurai's attacks would benefit from Dexterity, would it mean, for example, that the Ironworks Corselet of Scouting be available to wear as a Samurai?

im just trying to plan ahead as to which class i should dedicate the most time on before deciding to switch to Samurai and what gear i should keep or obtain in order to fully prepare myself.

this is mostly asking the question as to which Attribute will benefit the SAM? Will the SAM have its own exclusive gear? what gear exclusive to other classes most likely be shared with SAM?

All striking gear is usable by SAM. SAM is a STR job, not Dex.

Yoshida stated that they will be sharing Striking gear. Last time Yoshida mentioned that in regards to NIN, all Striking gear pre-2.4 received DEX stat on it and was available to ROG and NIN (besides AF). So it's fair to say that all MNK gear pre-4.0 will be shared with SAM, including accessories as he did not mention its main stat would be DEX, which implies it's STR.

Yes, SAM is a STR job.

As Stitches said samurai will share gear with monk as it will be strength primary, so you want to collect striking gear.

As for ability sharing that's not quite correct. In 4.0 instead of having cross-class abilities you will instead unlock shared abilities based on your role so you do not need to level monk to get the most out of samurai.

Sam shares gear with mnk, not abilities (as well as accessories with Drg and maybe tanks). Not sure where you got the ability share from
