I like playing healer because there is no set rotation, you just have to adapt to the situation. Its a challenge to pay attention to your tank and DPS players and predict the flow of battle.
Getting crit Adlos is so satisfying, like you get to just sit back and watch your baby tank become invincible for a while.

Playing WHM in ravana normal from a trial roulette.
The butterfly phase is done but I see 3 swords in the ground... That's enough to wipe out all the healers and dps, wipe and repeat right?

    Not on my watch

I put down an asylum next to the boss partially to only have dps that pay attention survive, but alas I was the only one who stepped in. I could've popped a few regens but where is the fun in that? Guess it's just me and 2 tanks.
I planned it perfectly. I kept healing the tank who was getting shot with hadouken's when he was barely alive and built the LB meter. One of the 2 tanks died because of it but that didn't matter as long as I can enact my plan.
Hadouken phase over, LB3 is ready. WAKE UP SLEEPYHEADS TIME TO REDEEM YOURSELVES. Everyone is alive, no weakness and all and we proceed to kick ravana into the ground.

Yup, that's right, I was farming commendations

I won't say that it is more challenging than keeping a rotation going, which is challenging in itself, but the penalty for too long of a reaction time or making the wrong choice is more severe for a healer. Another challenge, as you have pointed out, is keeping your eye on everyone and making the appropriate decision based on the situation. But this is one of the things I love about this role, and why 4-man content continues to be my favorite because I don't like splitting up this responsibility with a co-healer.

And yes, the DPS window after an adlo crit is ridiculous. It pretty much ensures you can DPS an entire trash pull, especially in combination with eye 4 eye and fairy abilities. I still desire a five-minute ability that allows SCHs to force an adlo crit, or at least increase the chance of it proc'ing.

Now, that's how you play a healer. Well done, Viola. I'm taking notes!

I love playing healer, because we can help the teams with damage reductions, healing and even dmg and have an imo even higher responsibility than dd in this game. Additionally, stance dancing is fun and i hope they never change it, because at the moment this is very rewarding and shows your own progress compared to yourself in the past. Especially in new entcounters in which you don't dps a lot and then later on think about healing more efficient to get more dmg stance uptime.

    Two reasons:

First, I like supporting people and playing an auxiliary role.

However, there's also a bit of the fact that, as a healer, you can single-handedly save the entire raid from disaster. Feels good when that happens .

This is the first game I ever played a healing role, usually opting for rogue-esque roles and builds. I was nervous as hell but slowly learning what exactly being the healer means made me love having a broader view of the fight and being able to react when I can see that DPS launch themselves into an AoE. It's the satisfaction that by playing my class right I can shave off 5 minutes to the run, even more if I really apply myself. WHM has a very slow rhythm to it and it keeps my from being anxious even in the really tough content.

But also the satisfaction of leaving that DPS dead because I can't bother rezing them for the 10th time.

    Welcome to healing, Littlegreen!

Healing gets in your blood, and suddenly, every fight in the game is different. You see everything in terms of mana, health bars, and worthiness. By the last part, I mean, is this guy who's been a royal pain all fight worth the effort to Raise him?

All kidding aside, I feel the same way about my white mage. There's this slow rhythm you get into that just keeps your anxiety down. It's enjoyable.

As far as why I love playing a healer, it's simple. I like taking care of people. I also tend to sit back and let other individuals take charge.

There are no set rotations to memorize and mechanics can be broken down to don't stand in bad stuff, watch the mob's cast bars and emotes, and don't let a bad guy get too close.

More than anything, it is this feeling that these are your people. This your tank, these are your damage dealers, this is your fellow healer, and you are going to do your very best to make sure they succeed in overcoming whatever challenge they face.

There is just something about watching those health bars knowing you are making a contribution that gets under your skin. Maybe it's a calling?

I know that sounds silly when we are talking about a game but have you all noticed how many of us work in the medical field or have serious health issues of our own? There's this concept of the wounded healer. Someone who becomes a healer because their health challenges gives them the empathy to connect to their patients. They understand pain and disease and want to make others better.

I seem to have talked myself in a circle. It all comes down to this. I have an impulse, a desire, to make other people feel better and that expresses itself in the game by me playing a white mage.
