This got me thinking: With PS3 support no longer a thing, will they make each city a single zone again like 1.0?Well the new city coming in SB will be entirely seamless and even have open rooftops. That is a step in the right direction.
Also while having a massive city is great for a sense of the world, Do you want to spend god knows how many minutes walking from place to place just trying to get simple stuff done? It will add up to hours of time wasted just for the sake of a big city. I am personally fine with a cut down city. Just use the horizon to display how big the city is, no need to be able to go everywhere.
Would be no problem with the 1.0 cities, because the devs would only have to add the removed tunnels and stairs again.
But Ishgard maybe not, because it was designed as 2 seperated zones. There is much more missing than just tunnels and stairs.
I don't think it would be possible at all, because there are locations that were present in 1.0 that are no longer present in 2.0, but also locations present in 2.0 that aren't present in 1.0 in the three main cities. They would need to redo the entire physical map as well as the visual map. Though does depend on how big their map/location team is, if they're sizeable then they can afford to do it, but as far as I know, they're not likely to build maps as two-parters 4.0 onward.
