This half-ass way of thinking and playing is part of the problem.doesn't really matter how cheap it is. gear is all just throw away junk...
why meld my 260 body when in a couple of weeks it'll be 270?
why bother melding that when 4.0 is around the corner?
i'm already 40 ilevels above the content so why bother with materia..
there's your reasons people don't bother melding stuff because there's just no point..
food and meds are pretty much exactly the same... nothing lasts long enough to make it worth investing in even a little bit.
if gear lasted and wasn't replaced every single patch i'd blow millions of gill trying to squeeze every single point of stats I could onto it. but when it just gets tossed who cares...
it's why people don't even look at the stats. just grab any piece that's higher ilevel and carry on... augmented shire bracelets or proto ultima.. grab the ultima even if there worse just because then I can use my coin to augment a left side instead of a right....
As for the blm melding mind I unno. maybe they play smn and use it to bolster sustain or phykik when they solo with titan........ who knows....
Pure laziness.
say whaaa? it is 30k-50k here...t5s on your main job:- some of the stronger t5s are still 150k ish so to fully meld ya main job with it is a good couple of million gils. for something you're just gonna toss /upgrade in a couple of weeks it's just not worth it. this is why most people don't even bother melding..
even when you can get t5 materia free. the 150k is more valuable to you than a melded piece of junk
its the same reason people don't really look at stats and just go for the highest ilevel piece. because its just temporary anyway and once again it's 30-40 ilevels above virtually all content it really doesn't matter if the stats aren't optimal.....
it's been said a lot by a lot of players that if gear actually felt valuable people would actually be a lot more willing to invest in it....
if the rewards from savage content actually had any value then more people would try savage.. where again it's been said so many times. why bother with savage when the rewards are just gonna be junk or there'll be easier alternatives. maybe not quite as good secondaries but goes back to the first point of who cares....
all reasons why people don't bother melding stuff.
is your economy just hugely inflated?
Only thing I seen 150k recently is spiked elemental materia
My friend has 2 jobs of pure V materia
Larger server populations almost invariably reduce the price of goods sold via market boards/auction houses/whatever, unless some special factor is in play.
It's not even laziness.....
We do already outgear the content by a lot. Materia is just pointless unless you are min maxing. Not melding isn't a problem in the slightest. What IS a problem is community enforced elitist meta that really makes no difference in completing content in a timely manner but instead gives people who care another reason to dictate what they think others should do because "OMG you don't meld your gear, I'm carrying you scrub."
yeahhh... no..It's not even laziness.....

It does not make a difference to those that do not know best rotations or going as fast as possible say like lore farming or lights. If you have someone in max gear but not have melds, you will notice things take a bit longer just by phases skipped and such. It does not make a difference of completing something, but saying it makes no time difference is pretty off. Also 24 people you will not notice if one person is not melded but if a good number are not melded, you notice a speed difference there too.
Please don't misinform people. It is one thing to say it does not effect your ability to clear something, but a whole another thing to say it does not effect speed at all.
Melds make up less than 1% of your BiS stat weights. it won't be a significant change in dps.yeahhh... no..

Hey BLM meld MND would be still better than a lot of ppl who do not meld anything and leave the slots empty! ^^;
Why you don't feel so surprise for those 270 empty slots ppl?
All gears in this game are ongoing being replaced in a couple of weeks.
Just meld IV even III if you need to save gil. ^^; Empty slots is really a waste.
Why not save that gil for melding level 70 gear? Or buying glamours?
A friend of mine says they vendor or market their materia that they find. I went to correct them, but I didn't have an argument to stand on. Materia doesn't make enough of a difference. Its pretty bad when glamour serves a better purpose than affixing materia.
