Tbh I'd prefer no melds over bad melds. No melds can be explained with laziness, but bad melds screams inexperience, bad melds are always followed by the person not using a proper rotation and doing less damage than a tank, since they can't be bothered to read the stat tooltip or ask people what's their main stat it's very likely they won't bother reading the tooltip of skills either.

This is how ice mages are born.

why bother melding that when 4.0 is around the corner?i'm already 40 ilevels above the content so why bother with materia..

there's your reasons people don't bother melding stuff because there's just no point..
food and meds are pretty much exactly the same... nothing lasts long enough to make it worth investing in even a little bit.

if gear lasted and wasn't replaced every single patch i'd blow millions of gill trying to squeeze every single point of stats I could onto it. but when it just gets tossed who cares...

it's why people don't even look at the stats. just grab any piece that's higher ilevel and carry on... augmented shire bracelets or proto ultima.. grab the ultima even if there worse just because then I can use my coin to augment a left side instead of a right....

As for the blm melding mind I unno. maybe they play smn and use it to bolster sustain or phykik when they solo with titan........ who knows....
Maybe it is just me but killing stuff faster or healing more so you can dps more, is worth 1-2k per meld using IVs at least. Not melding at all is just lazyness or they plan to do an upgrade in a few days (not weeks) also not melding > melds that do nothing to your job (like stated in the post above mine) since it reflects not experienced.

Also melding and food is very important when your doing stuff in likes of salvage. My friend noticed the difference of not melding in 8 slots i think it was? off doing the a12s dummy from upgrading those slots and wanted to see if there was an observable difference.

With that said, even now, your main job should have V materia in it, one you use the most

This game does an awful job of explaining stats :\
what ya mean? i put my cursor over it and says "affects healing magic spells"
Yeah, but they'd have to actually lok at that to know
it doesn't say "Mind does this" when you pick up BLM

I saw that BLM in wall today in expert roulette before reset, fully upgraded shire, with mind V melds.
    reminded me of this:

However that someone who doesnt meet the requirement will get a red warning message saying the player doesn't meet the requirement for the duty.. In an utopia, the player who doesn't meet the requirement should excuse themself and apologize for entering the wrong pf that player doesn't qualify for but in reality, most players don't even notice they are at fault and they ignore the red warning message in their screen simply (in my subjective wordings) because their reading comprehension is questionable once they decide to join up a duty which they havent unlocked to begin with..

    The fix should be simple:
    1. A warning message should tell the party leader who doesnt meet the requirement so something can be done instead of disbanding or making the party stagnant.
    2. The player who has either not unlocked or got themself penalty from leaving a duty shouldn't be able to join in a pf in the first place.
I thought private ls was common due to the ps3 limitation of "unable to send tell while in duty"

I mean what needs done here? You get a very detailed description of what the stats do in the character sheet. What more is needed? A big flashing pop-up when you meld an odd stat.

"OMG DON'T USE MND!!!! BLM USE INT!!!!"

I mean that's all I can think of. Maybe instead of more hand holding players could take a minute, read, use google, or ask literally anyone who has played for more then 6 months?

    I like Ama's threads

Devil's advocate on this.. but why not do the same with STR/DEX? Or even all 4 stats?
Tbh since they removed the increased block chance from dex and the increased parry strength from str, we wouldn't lose anything if all 4 were merged into a single stat called "Power".

I find a lot of the "outrage" threads/posts are all for attention. "Look at me and how outraged I am! I'm mad at the big bad community/SE/exc and am not afraid to stand up to them all by myself. Aren't I amazing! Sure there are actual problems in the world but hey, this one is small but I can make a big deal out of it for all the attention! YAY ME!!!!"

My four and eight year old both do this.

t5s on your main job:- some of the stronger t5s are still 150k ish so to fully meld ya main job with it is a good couple of million gils. for something you're just gonna toss /upgrade in a couple of weeks it's just not worth it. this is why most people don't even bother melding..

even when you can get t5 materia free. the 150k is more valuable to you than a melded piece of junk

its the same reason people don't really look at stats and just go for the highest ilevel piece. because its just temporary anyway and once again it's 30-40 ilevels above virtually all content it really doesn't matter if the stats aren't optimal.....

it's been said a lot by a lot of players that if gear actually felt valuable people would actually be a lot more willing to invest in it....
if the rewards from savage content actually had any value then more people would try savage.. where again it's been said so many times. why bother with savage when the rewards are just gonna be junk or there'll be easier alternatives. maybe not quite as good secondaries but goes back to the first point of who cares....

all reasons why people don't bother melding stuff.
